{"id":7205,"date":"2022-01-04T10:12:29","date_gmt":"2022-01-04T18:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/?p=7205"},"modified":"2022-01-04T10:12:29","modified_gmt":"2022-01-04T18:12:29","slug":"a-color-of-his-own-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/2022\/01\/04\/a-color-of-his-own-2\/","title":{"rendered":"A Color of His Own"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"A Color of his own, by Leo Lionni\" width=\"1400\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Y8rab-HcTN0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>We read a delightful book by Leo Lionni called <strong>A Color of His Own.<\/strong>\u00a0 This book is about a little chameleon who notices that he does not have a color of his own like other animals.\u00a0 The chameleon is sad because he is always changing color depending on where he is standing.\u00a0 Finally, the chameleon finds a friend who teaches him that is OK to be different.\u00a0 We loved the message that true identity comes from who you are inside.<\/p>\n<p>We have also been learning about some of the <strong>elements of design: line<\/strong>\u00a0 (e.g., thick, thin, wavy, zigzag, broken, spiral, jagged, etc.), <strong>shape<\/strong> and <strong>colour<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a picture of the children exploring colour mixing by using the <strong>primary<\/strong> colours; red, yellow and blue to create <strong>secondary<\/strong> ones; orange, green and purple.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/files\/2022\/01\/773F0908-7F0A-4DCE-AC1A-22A55DD667C0-e1641318837649.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7204\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/files\/2022\/01\/773F0908-7F0A-4DCE-AC1A-22A55DD667C0-e1641318837649.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The children created their very own chameleon using what they had learned about the different elements of design.\u00a0 First, they used oil pastels to draw the background.\u00a0 Then, they painted over it with a blue watercolor.
