Let&#8217;s describe its parts.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/files\/2020\/05\/5141609F-8AFA-48B9-B812-E9FC8FEDF17F-scaled-e1588711202745.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5646\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/files\/2020\/05\/5141609F-8AFA-48B9-B812-E9FC8FEDF17F-scaled-e1588711202745.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Seed Coat<\/strong> &#8211; The most outer part that protects the seed.\u00a0 It has special chemicals (or super powers) in it that tell the seed when it is time to start growing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Roots<\/strong> &#8211; They hold the plant in the ground and keep it upright. Roots always grow downward.\u00a0 They take water and food from the soil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Let&#8217;s open up the seed and see what is inside.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/files\/2020\/05\/9BD6B8B5-4C26-479B-B1E9-032846D5B98E-scaled-e1588711235254.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5647\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/files\/2020\/05\/9BD6B8B5-4C26-479B-B1E9-032846D5B98E-scaled-e1588711235254.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Embryo<\/strong> &#8211; The baby plant.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Food Storage or Endosperm<\/strong> &#8211; feeds the embryo and helps it grow.\u00a0 It&#8217;s like the baby plant has it own backpack filled with snacks.<\/p>\n<p>We also learned that the seed needs <strong>water, the right temperature and light. <\/strong>Until it gets those things, it is <strong>dormant<\/strong> which means having its normal functions suspended or slowed down for a period of time.\u00a0 When the seed begins to grow or develop, it is<strong> germinating.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wow!\u00a0 Seeds are really smart!<\/p>\n<p>Complete the activity in the protected post.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t forget to send me a picture of your <strong>Favourite Place in the Community<\/strong>.\u00a0 I would like to share some in tomorrows post.\u00a0 Grown-ups please encourage your child to use the letter sounds that they know to write the sentence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three weeks ago we started our experiment.
