{"id":3031,"date":"2017-02-03T13:32:46","date_gmt":"2017-02-03T21:32:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/?p=3031"},"modified":"2017-02-03T13:39:07","modified_gmt":"2017-02-03T21:39:07","slug":"3031","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/2017\/02\/03\/3031\/","title":{"rendered":"Parkcrest is HIP!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\">Parkcrest is celebrating <strong>Canada\u2019s 150<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong> birthday by participating in an exciting project.<a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/files\/2017\/02\/T-Shirt.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3032 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/files\/2017\/02\/T-Shirt-275x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/files\/2017\/02\/T-Shirt-275x300.png 275w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/files\/2017\/02\/T-Shirt-99x108.png 99w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gourlays\/files\/2017\/02\/T-Shirt.png 503w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 275px) 100vw, 275px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\">This project involves recognizing the contributions of a group of iconic Canadian musicians, <strong>Gord Downie and the Tragically Hip<\/strong>.&nbsp; Their songs are all about Canadian identity and culture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\">Gord Downie is a Canadian hero.&nbsp; He believes in helping others, including raising awareness about the history of Canada\u2019s indigenous people.&nbsp; Gord was recently diagnosed with brain cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\">Parkcrest Elementary along with Chaffey-Burke Elementary, is learning one of the HIP\u2019s songs <strong>\u201cAhead by a Century\u201d,<\/strong> which will be videoed and submitted as our contribution to the &#8220;<strong>Canada 150th&#8221;<\/strong> event.&nbsp; The song will also be performed by the children at an assembly in May and also at the <strong>Primary Days of Music<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\">Stay tuned for more information on how you can be the proud owner of one of these T-shirts.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parkcrest is celebrating Canada\u2019s 150th birthday by participating in an exciting project.
