Communication

The children of Division 8 learned a lot about communication through the process of making the movie.

They learned:

  • that in order to share and develop ideas they needed to be an active listener and participant.
  • to present information about a topic clearly, and in a logically connected and sequenced way.
  • that they needed to work cooperatively with others in order to achieve a common goal.
  • how to reflect on their experience and recount something that they discovered.

Here are some examples from the children.

The Communication Competency encompasses the set of abilities that students use to impart and exchange information, experiences and ideas, to explore the world around them, and to understand and effectively engage in the use of digital media.”

The children of Division 8 are pleased to present their movie “Commotion in the Ocean“.  This movie is an example of the children’s ability to communicate what they learned about the ocean.  The children collaborated on writing the script, choreographing the actions, rehearsing their lines and acting out their parts.  Wow!  Little kids can do amazing things.

Much thanks to Jan Chow, the learning technology teacher, for all her help with this project.
