{"id":7474,"date":"2019-10-21T17:08:38","date_gmt":"2019-10-22T00:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gaitensp\/?p=7474"},"modified":"2019-10-21T17:08:38","modified_gmt":"2019-10-22T00:08:38","slug":"job-posting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gaitensp\/2019\/10\/21\/job-posting\/","title":{"rendered":"Job Posting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>NEW JOB POSTING:&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>The MACC Mini-Brain!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1072 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gaitensp\/files\/2016\/11\/minibrain.jpeg\" alt=\"minibrain\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gaitensp\/files\/2016\/11\/minibrain.jpeg 400w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/gaitensp\/files\/2016\/11\/minibrain-300x225.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There is a new position opening up in the Capitol Hill MACC 6\/7 program: the MACC Mini-Brain.<\/p>\n<p>The Mini-Brain is a job similar to \u201cclass president.\u201d&nbsp; The role of the Mini-Brain is to be the teacher when Prof. Great Brain isn\u2019t in the room or when he doesn\u2019t feel like being the teacher.&nbsp; The Mini-Brain is to Prof. Great Brain as Robin is to Batman.&nbsp; The Mini-Brain is a natural leader, fair and kind, and helps shape policies that affect the lives of the students of Division 3.<\/p>\n<p>(Full disclosure: this idea was stolen directly &#8211; and then adapted &#8211; from the incomparable Ms. Cowan, founder of the Cap Hill MACC Pack.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Forms government of choice<\/li>\n<li>Leads the creation of our Class Agreement<\/li>\n<li>Holds bi-weekly Town Hall meetings to share policy decisions and hear the concerns of constituents<\/li>\n<li>Records attendance<\/li>\n<li>Leads students to the gym and Music and sends people to start again if they are talking while in the halls<\/li>\n<li>Helps Prof. Great Brain make decisions, such as:<br \/>\n&#8211; what activities to do for D.P.A.<br \/>\n&#8211; when to take breaks<br \/>\n&#8211; what movies to watch for the end of term celebrations<br \/>\n&#8211; how much milk and sugar to put in his coffee (remember: we are only capable of 7-8 truly thoughtful decisions a day)<br \/>\n&#8211; things he doesn\u2019t want to think about<\/li>\n<li>Controls the class jobs basket<\/li>\n<li>Helps classmates solve minor conflicts<\/li>\n<li>Holds the tie-breaking vote in the case of a tie in class votes<\/li>\n<li>Reminds people to do their jobs<\/li>\n<li>Welcomes guests to the room and helps make TOCs\u2019 lives bearable<\/li>\n<li>Politely corrects Prof. Great Brain\u2019s spelling errors (and French pronunciation, if so able)<\/li>\n<li>Sighs wearily at the P.A. system when there are too many announcements<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as they arise<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Mandatory Skills\/Assets \u2013 some combination of the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trust-worthy<\/li>\n<li>Optimistic<\/li>\n<li>Prepared<\/li>\n<li>Open-minded<\/li>\n<li>Responsible<\/li>\n<li>Positive<\/li>\n<li>Confident<\/li>\n<li>Helpful<\/li>\n<li>Respectful<\/li>\n<li>Experienced<\/li>\n<li>Wise<\/li>\n<li>Eco-friendly<\/li>\n<li>Understanding<\/li>\n<li>Efficient<\/li>\n<li>Caring<\/li>\n<li>Fun<\/li>\n<li>Polite<\/li>\n<li>Empathetic<\/li>\n<li>Amusing<\/li>\n<li>Professional<\/li>\n<li>Encouraging<\/li>\n<li>Righteous<\/li>\n<li>Purposeful<\/li>\n<li>Economically Responsible<\/li>\n<li>Loyal<\/li>\n<li>Patient<\/li>\n<li>Brave<\/li>\n<li>Committed<\/li>\n<li>Charismatic<\/li>\n<li>Peaceful<\/li>\n<li>Honorable<\/li>\n<li>Ambitious<\/li>\n<li>Grateful<\/li>\n<li>Good-natured<\/li>\n<li>Generous<\/li>\n<li>Forward-thinking<\/li>\n<li>Factual<\/li>\n<li>Inspirational<\/li>\n<li>Mature<\/li>\n<li>Powerful Speaker<\/li>\n<li>Proud<\/li>\n<li>Principled<\/li>\n<li>Straight Forward<\/li>\n<li>Honest<\/li>\n<li>Relatable<\/li>\n<li>Welcomes Diversity<\/li>\n<li>Smart<\/li>\n<li>Fair<\/li>\n<li>Supportive<\/li>\n<li>Nice<\/li>\n<li>Passionate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hello, Leaders of Tomorrow.&nbsp; Welcome to your first campaign.<\/p>\n<p>For a combination of Social Studies, Career Education, Writing, Math, ADST, and Art, you will each create a project to determine the first MACC Mini-Brain!<\/p>\n<p>Remember that <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/1de038d05fb41cf0a5e52f609\/files\/15c8caf6-156e-4b88-a41f-a93ccaf35064.pdf\">letter and package from President Obama <\/a><\/strong>that we explored? For the campaign for the MACC Mini-Brain project, you will each create your own version of that document.&nbsp; It will contain:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A persuasive essay, explaining why you should be the first MACC Mini-Brain. In this essay, you will try to win our votes by explain how and why you best fit the Mini-Brain job description.&nbsp; On Campaign Day, you will deliver this speech to the class.<\/li>\n<li>A campaign poster, done on 8.5 x 11 paper or cardstock. This can be a self-portrait, like the photo of President Obama that was in the package we explored, or a catchy and meaningful visual with a catchy and persuasive slogan; or some combination of those two representations.<\/li>\n<li>Creative choice: remember the bios of the two Obama dogs? What would <strong>you<\/strong> use on this third page to humanize yourself, grab our hearts, and tell us more about your values?<\/li>\n<li>A written interview, in which you answer the same questions that President Obama answered, with the idea of being truthful and showing your personality, but also trying to win our votes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Remember: <em>there is no one way of being an effective leader<\/em>, and there are not leaders and non-leaders; leadership potential exists inside us all, and there are an infinity variety of ways of expressing it\u2014what\u2019s yours?<\/p>\n<p>Good luck!&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW JOB POSTING:&nbsp;The MACC Mini-Brain!
