Philosophy of Learning

As an educator, I feel that if learning can be interactive and fun then understanding will set in. I believe in teaching in a holistic way in which students need to be challenged to think beyond just the concepts of the curriculum and be able to apply them to real life situations. As research proves highly social and emotional environments continue to foster children’s growth and helps in creating a sense of safety and belonging. These social and emotional environments are the key to developing a positive and meaningful educational experience which reinforcing learning and consequently setting the tone for a successful learner. Not only by setting up a successful environment but creating inclusive environments in which belonging, relationships and trust are  priority. When these ideas are met, the chances are improved that the students will learn the material and become active and invested stakeholders in their education. The Primary Program goals are intended to provide a variety of rich learning experiences (social, emotional, physical, artistic and intellectual) that foster each child’s personal growth. The emphasis for me is to help build the child’s self-confidence while overall creating a peaceful classroom environment, which promotes safety, learning and respect for one another.

My keen interest and vast experience over the years in the world of arts and relationship development have set the tone for creating optimal environments that encourage the possibility of teaching, living and learning with joy and strong supported  communities as our foundation.
