Daily Physical Activity (DPA)
Daily Physical Activity (DPA) is a part of our students’ core learning right from the start. Beginning in Kindergarten, students are introduced to both Physical and Health Education. Our goal is to inspire and engage students in lifelong physical activity that will serve both their physical and mental well-being.
The physical education component focuses on helping our students build their confidence and ability to engage in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities including games, sports and dance. DPA allows our students to experience the physiological affects of movement on the brain (eg sense of calm, clearer thinking, increased focus, improved mood) while teaching them that “Movement Breaks” are a tool they can add to their lifelong toolbox.
The health education component focuses on developing students’ knowledge, skills, attitudes and beliefs regarding several health topics including: nutrition, injury prevention, being a good sport, healthy relationships, personal boundaries, safety and hygiene.
The combination of both physical and health education complements First Peoples perspectives and worldviews that recognize the significance of a holistic approach to maintaining one’s health and well-being.
Below are some resources to help your son/daughter maintain their health from home.
