{"id":4337,"date":"2023-02-02T15:15:46","date_gmt":"2023-02-02T23:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/?p=4337"},"modified":"2023-02-02T14:43:29","modified_gmt":"2023-02-02T22:43:29","slug":"math-tangram","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/2023\/02\/02\/math-tangram\/","title":{"rendered":"Math Tangram"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2020\/05\/thinking-triangle.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3003\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2020\/05\/thinking-triangle.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"217\" height=\"178\" \/><\/a>Today we used our critical thinking skills along with our technology skills to share our math knowledge in a new way.\u00a0 We learned a little history of how the Tangram was invented (one of many versions we found out!).<\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Long ago in China there was a new Emperor, and everyone in the land was bringing him a gift.\u00a0 The tile maker spent a lot of time making a beautiful, perfectly square tile.\u00a0 As he waited in line to present it to the Emperor, he became more and more nervous.\u00a0 Finally, it was his turn.\u00a0 As he approached the Emperor his knees were shaking and he tripped and dropped the tile. Oh, No!\u00a0 It broke into seven pieces!\u00a0 Since then it has been a challenge to try to return the seven pieces back into a perfect square.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Below are the 7 pieces&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2023\/02\/tangram.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4338 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2023\/02\/tangram.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"197\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We used the iPads today to explore using the Tangrams to complete puzzles (decomposing shapes).\u00a0 We encountered some technical difficulties (some of us more than others!) but overall we had fun.\u00a0 If you would like to try the puzzles at home you can click the link below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathplayground.com\/tangram_puzzles.html\">Tangram Puzzles<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today we used our critical thinking skills along with our technology skills to share our math knowledge in a new way.\u00a0 We learned a little history of how the Tangram was invented (one of many versions we found out!).
