{"id":3262,"date":"2020-05-29T07:30:33","date_gmt":"2020-05-29T14:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/?p=3262"},"modified":"2020-05-29T07:30:33","modified_gmt":"2020-05-29T14:30:33","slug":"fireworks-in-a-jar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/2020\/05\/29\/fireworks-in-a-jar\/","title":{"rendered":"Fireworks In a Jar"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Today we are going to make fireworks in a jar!!<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Materials:<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>tall glass or jar<\/li>\n<li>vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li>food colour<\/li>\n<li>warm water<\/li>\n<li>bowl<\/li>\n<li>fork<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Instructions:<\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Fill your glass\/jar 3\/4 of the way full with warm water.<\/li>\n<li>In a separate bowl, mix 3-4 TBSP. of oil and several drops of different colours of food colouring.<\/li>\n<li>Use the fork to <strong>gently\u00a0<\/strong>mix the oil and food colouring together.<\/li>\n<li>Gently pour the mixture into the glass\/jar.<\/li>\n<li>Watch what happens, the food colouring will slowly sink out of the oil and into the water.\u00a0 When this happens, it will expand and begin to mix with the other colours.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">The science behind it:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Food coloring dissolves in water but not in oil. Because the oil is less dense than the water, it will float at the top. The colored droplets will begin to sink because they are heavier than the oil.
