{"id":2309,"date":"2017-10-27T16:55:02","date_gmt":"2017-10-27T23:55:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/?p=2309"},"modified":"2017-10-27T17:12:27","modified_gmt":"2017-10-28T00:12:27","slug":"leaf-hunt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/2017\/10\/27\/leaf-hunt\/","title":{"rendered":"Leaf Hunt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Each Wednesday we have been participating in &#8216;nature school&#8217; from 9-10:30.&nbsp; We have had a great time exploring our senses.&nbsp; We&#8217;ve participated in a &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapters.indigo.ca\/en-ca\/books\/the-listening-walk\/9780064433228-item.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">listening walk<\/a>&#8216;, a &#8216;looking walk&#8217; (scavenger hunt), and a &#8216;touching walk&#8217; where we explored the texture of items in nature with paper rubbings and crayons.<\/p>\n<p>The last few weeks we have focused on the changing leaves and signs of fall.&nbsp; Although the weather hasn&#8217;t been the best&#8211;we are still going out and enjoying ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few stories we&#8217;ve listened to\/watched:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=srYQPAJJIck\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;The Rain Came Down&#8221;<\/a> (We were so quiet while trying to figure out if it was Mr. Seto reading&#8211;it wasn&#8217;t!)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nGo3FZexBfE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Fall Leaves Fall&#8221;<\/a>&nbsp; (We loved her accent!)<\/p>\n<p>This week we did a leaf hunt&#8211;looking for these 5 different types of leaves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a smooth edged leaf<\/li>\n<li>a toothed edge leaf<\/li>\n<li>a lobed leaf<\/li>\n<li>a needle<\/li>\n<li>a compound leaf<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After collecting the leaves, we used pencils to sketch them.&nbsp; It was a bit wet&#8211;but the covered area at the park protected us.&nbsp; What a great day!<\/p>\n<p>[metaslider id=2334]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Can you go on a <a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/2017\/10\/27\/leaf-hunt\/leaf-hunt\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2327\">leaf hunt<\/a>&nbsp;in your neighbourhood and find these leaves?<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each Wednesday we have been participating in &#8216;nature school&#8217; from 9-10:30.&nbsp; We have had a great time exploring our senses.&nbsp; We&#8217;ve participated in a &#8216;listening walk&#8216;, a &#8216;looking walk&#8217; (scavenger hunt), and a &#8216;touching walk&#8217; where we explored the texture of items in nature with paper rubbings and crayons.
