Yoga develops body awareness and improves flexibility, strength, balance and mental focus.&#8221; (ACtion Schools BC)<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What does Yoga look like in Division 9?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u2022 We reduce lighting, use calm relaxing music, and set the volume low.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">\u2022 We have introduced the poses one or two at a time and are\u00a0gradually creating a sequence of poses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u2022 We are learning to \u201clisten\u201d to our\u00a0bodies and help them understand the healthy sensation of stretching.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #a85313;\">\u2022 We are being reminded frequently to breathe and are learning to use breath to consciously relax (e.g. in through nose, out through mouth).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808000;\">\u2022 We are learning all the poses so that we can add\u00a0\u201ca Yoga Leader\u201d to our class jobs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is our last week of Yoga in the gym&#8211;and then we will participate in the classroom twice a week. \u00a0We have found that participating in yoga often has a calming effect&#8211;you can ask your child to teach you some of their favourite poses.<\/p>\n<h2>Namaste!<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2048 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2016\/10\/namaste-yall-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"namaste-yall\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the past two weeks we have been learning Yoga in our physical education class.
