I thought we should use the ocean as our inspiration for an animal we would like to make into a &#8216;stuffie&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>We read a book called <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/Secret-Seahorse-Stella-Blackstone\/dp\/1841489379\/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=&amp;sr=\" target=\"_blank\">The Secret Seahorse<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>by Stella Blackstone. \u00a0The art was wonderful for getting our creative juices flowing!!! \u00a0Thank you Clare Beaton!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/2016\/04\/30\/creating-a-stuffie\/secret_seahorse_bb_w\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1882\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1882 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2016\/04\/Secret_Seahorse_BB_W-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Secret_Seahorse_BB_W\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We then began to practice making just the outline of an animal (this is much harder to do than you think&#8211;as we all like to add details to our pictures!). \u00a0We used plastic animals to help us.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/2016\/04\/30\/creating-a-stuffie\/stuffy1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1883\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1883 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2016\/04\/stuffy1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"stuffy1\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/2016\/04\/30\/creating-a-stuffie\/stuffy2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1884\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1884 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2016\/04\/stuffy2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"stuffy2\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These outlines became the &#8216;pattern&#8217; for our stuffie.<\/p>\n<p>We used our dress rehearsal day to work on adding &#8216;decoration&#8217; to our stuffies. \u00a0Thanks to Luisa and Tammy for coming to help out! \u00a0We did a\u00a0great job at stitching on buttons, beads, sequins, and ribbons! \u00a0We learned so much from quilting with our big buddies (Thanks Division 1) and couldn&#8217;t wait to try it on our own&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Once we finished the decorating, we put our 2 pattern pieces together and began stitching our stuffies together. \u00a0We are now ready for the last step&#8211;STUFFING!!!<\/p>\n<p>We are all eager\u00a0to seeing the finished product&#8211;and I know you will too!!! \u00a0Watch for them at the <a href=\"http:\/\/confederationpark.sd41.bc.ca\/calendar-3\/action~month\/exact_date~1462086000\/request_format~html\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Student Led Conferences<\/strong><\/a>&#8212; coming up May 26th!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After working with our Artist in Residence-Donna, I was inspired to try some sewing with the class&#8230; Because we have been consumed with The Little Mermaid&#8230;(dance, sing, perform!!!)
