We love poetry!<\/h1>\n

This term\u00a0we have started to work on creative writing. \u00a0We are beginning to write poems! \u00a0This is a very exciting time as we are getting a chance to express our ideas in a new form. \u00a0Those of us with older siblings are also very excited to listen to poems written by our siblings when they were in Kindergarten or Grade One.<\/p>\n

We are learning about the steps of writing–no there isn’t just one!!!<\/p>\n

  1. Select a Topic<\/strong>-I can write about anything<\/li>\n
  2. Pre-Writing<\/strong>-I can think<\/li>\n
  3. Writing<\/strong>-I can write<\/li>\n
  4. Sharing<\/strong>-I can read my writing (with a friend and get advice)<\/li>\n
  5. Revising<\/strong>-I can make it better<\/li>\n
  6. Conferencing<\/strong>-I can work with my teacher\u00a0(she helps me find mistakes)<\/li>\n
  7. Editing<\/strong>-I can use my checklist<\/li>\n
  8. Publishing<\/strong>-I can illustrate my writing<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    **We write 3 poems and then choose our best one to publish on the computer…<\/p>\n

    Each creative writing period, I introduce\u00a0a new skill in poetry writing. \u00a0So far, we have learned about the steps of the writing process, and how to pick a topic. \u00a0Our next lesson is on how to make a ‘list’ poem. \u00a0As we build our folders of poems, we may ask for parents to come into the classroom to help us “publish” on the computer. \u00a0Watch for email invitations to help out!<\/p>\n
