We have begun a new science unit on Force & Motion!<\/h2>\n

We have defined force<\/strong> as “making things move”.<\/p>\n

We have defined motion<\/strong> as “moving from A to B” (or from one place to another place)<\/p>\n

  1. We have done a number of experiments with toys–testing out the different ways they can move: \u00a0Does it\u00a0bounce, spin, slide, or roll<\/span>? \u00a0<\/em>Thanks to our Grade One girls for leading\u00a0a group in these experiments.<\/li>\n
  2. We watched a documentary on motion, learning about push and pull and speed.<\/li>\n
  3. We went out to the playground to test out what we had learned about motion, searching for things that needed either a push<\/em><\/strong> or a pull<\/em><\/strong> to move. \u00a0Ask us what we found…<\/li>\n
  4. We did some experiments to test gravity\u00a0<\/strong>by dropping a number of items on the floor to see which would hit the ground first. \u00a0This was VERY<\/span> tricky as it was hard to tell!! \u00a0But we learned that they all hit the ground at the same time because of gravity.<\/li>\n
  5. Our next experiment involves using air as a force to help make things move…<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
