{"id":1862,"date":"2016-04-09T09:47:22","date_gmt":"2016-04-09T16:47:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/?p=1862"},"modified":"2016-04-09T09:47:22","modified_gmt":"2016-04-09T16:47:22","slug":"force-motion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/2016\/04\/09\/force-motion\/","title":{"rendered":"Force &#038; Motion"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">We have begun a new science unit on Force &amp; Motion!<\/h2>\n<p>We have defined <strong>force<\/strong> as &#8220;making things move&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>We have defined <strong>motion<\/strong> as &#8220;moving from A to B&#8221; (or from one place to another place)<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>We have done a number of experiments with toys&#8211;testing out the different ways they can move: \u00a0Does it\u00a0<em><span style=\"color: #808000;\">bounce, spin, slide, or roll<\/span>? \u00a0<\/em>Thanks to our Grade One girls for leading\u00a0a group in these experiments.<\/li>\n<li>We watched a documentary on motion, learning about push and pull and speed.<\/li>\n<li>We went out to the playground to test out what we had learned about motion, searching for things that needed either a <strong><em>push<\/em><\/strong> or a <strong><em>pull<\/em><\/strong> to move. \u00a0Ask us what we found&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>We did some experiments to test <strong>gravity\u00a0<\/strong>by dropping a number of items on the floor to see which would hit the ground first. \u00a0This was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">VERY<\/span> tricky as it was hard to tell!! \u00a0But we learned that they all hit the ground at the same time because of gravity.<\/li>\n<li>Our next experiment involves using air as a force to help make things move&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Curiosity has its own reason for existing.&#8221;~Albert Einstein<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have begun a new science unit on Force &amp; Motion!
