{"id":1704,"date":"2016-01-18T07:48:38","date_gmt":"2016-01-18T15:48:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/?p=1704"},"modified":"2016-01-18T07:48:38","modified_gmt":"2016-01-18T15:48:38","slug":"growing-an-apple-blossom-amaryllis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/2016\/01\/18\/growing-an-apple-blossom-amaryllis\/","title":{"rendered":"Growing An Apple Blossom Amaryllis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This term in science we are growing an <strong>Amaryllis<\/strong>! \u00a0It is a very exciting plant to grow as the &#8216;seed&#8217; (really a bulb) is HUGE, it grows quickly and very TALL (yes, there is a reason why we are learning about measurement in math!).<\/p>\n<h3>So far, we have:<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_303\" style=\"width: 114px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2014\/01\/i-wonder.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-303\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-303\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2014\/01\/i-wonder-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"I wonder\" width=\"104\" height=\"104\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-303\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Things I wonder about the Amaryllis&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Brainstormed a list of questions that we &#8220;wonder&#8221; about the amaryllis:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What colour will it be?<\/li>\n<li>What will it look like?<\/li>\n<li>What will it feel like?<\/li>\n<li>How tall will it be?<\/li>\n<li>Will it be low, medium, or high?<\/li>\n<li>How long will the flowers last?<\/li>\n<li>How long until it blooms?<\/li>\n<li>Will it be taller than last year&#8217;s?<\/li>\n<li>How does it smell?<\/li>\n<li>How many blooms will it have?<\/li>\n<li>How long until it starts to grow? (it took 2 days!)<\/li>\n<li>How does it grow?<\/li>\n<li>Will it have leaves?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Made a number of entries in our logbook:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Table of Contents (this is non-fiction writing you know!)<\/li>\n<li>What <strong>materials<\/strong> do we need to plant an amaryllis? \u00a0(pot, soil, water, bulb)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Day 3<\/strong>-How much has it grown? 15cm. (using a ruler to measure)<\/li>\n<li>What does the Amaryllis<strong> need<\/strong> to grow?
