{"id":1275,"date":"2015-01-07T15:59:02","date_gmt":"2015-01-07T23:59:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/?p=1275"},"modified":"2015-01-07T17:31:07","modified_gmt":"2015-01-08T01:31:07","slug":"the-circle-of-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/2015\/01\/07\/the-circle-of-life\/","title":{"rendered":"The Circle of Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Today in drama we &#8216;enacted&#8217; the life cycle of a plant!<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>We began with a story &#8220;I&#8217;m a Seed&#8221; by Jean Marzollo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2015\/01\/seed.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1276\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2015\/01\/seed-107x150.jpg\" alt=\"seed\" width=\"107\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After reading the story of two seeds (marigold and pumpkin) and their &#8220;lives&#8221;, we reviewed the steps in their lives and drew a diagram on the board that included:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/2015\/01\/07\/the-circle-of-life\/plant-life-cycle\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1277\">plant life cycle<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then the acting began. \u00a0We had to use only our bodies to be all the parts of the plant as it grew and changed throughout it&#8217;s life. \u00a0It was a great experience for us all.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>We are working on:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>DRAMA:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>demonstrating a willingness to explore ideas through drama games and activities<\/li>\n<li>using drama exploration to show sequence<\/li>\n<li>working in role to imagine and play characters from stories or<br \/>\nreal life events<\/li>\n<li>using movement elements and their bodies to explore<br \/>\nrepresentation of action (e.g., brushing your teeth, a dog<br \/>\nchasing a ball, blowing out candles, growing from a seed to a<br \/>\ntree)<\/li>\n<li>finding and using their own personal space throughout the<br \/>\ndrama activity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Watch for more information on our new science &amp; math units on plants &amp; measurement\u2026and how we integrate them&#8230;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_315\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2014\/01\/i-try.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-315\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-315\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2014\/01\/i-try-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"I will try our ideas\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2014\/01\/i-try-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2014\/01\/i-try-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/fischerj\/files\/2014\/01\/i-try.jpg 467w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-315\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I try&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today in drama we &#8216;enacted&#8217; the life cycle of a plant!
