This is our work from the book, “The Dot.”  This story encourages people taking risks.

We made iced castles by mixing water with food colouring and then freezing.

We made fire works.

We tried to paint Chinese figures using black paint and black ink.

We did a lion dance.

We also did drumming.

By reusing old shoe boxes, we made our valentine boxes.

Children composed positive comments about each of their classmates.

We looked at a video about Piet Mondrian and then over two days painted in his style.  the plates were part of our celebration of Black History month.  Mrs. Ezra brought her Nelson Mandela plate to show designs.  using acrylic paint we made plates for our families for Family Day.

For the 100th day at school, we made our hats using Nour own ideas and then counted a variety of things using 100 items.

We used a sting of 100cm long to measure items.

 

Using this book as a provocation, we made our own constructions reusing boxes.  Th children’s ideas were so creative!

We are waiting for the bus to go on the 41st bus.

 

We saw this usual tree on Oak Street.

This is part of the Gardens.

We are learning about food storage.

With our discussions about families, we graphed family members.

Using black pens we drew our families.  Many books and discussions took place.

We used drums as part of learning about orange Shirt Day.

We read this story.  It is written by a First Nations, author.

 

We did lots of experiments using bread in different situations to show the importance of hand washing.  As each child learnt to properly was their hands, they received a star!  the whole class made it!

After reading about Japan’s fan-our author, Kusama, the children drew, painted and added lines and dots.

We also made pumpkins using shading techniques to capture the reflections of the moon and stars.  We also painted jars to honour Diwali.

We tried to sink and make structures using pumpkins of varying sizes.

Using various materials, the children were asked to choose the colour of their masks and then try to make patterns using various items.  patterning is a math activity.

Each day we read.  This was the class reading big books together.

When we started to learn about seeds, we sorted items into non seeds and seeds.

 

We had many dandelions outside so using magnifying glasses we examined them.

 

Look what a classmate made at the block area.

We read big books together.

We painted boxes for our dinosaur dioramas.
