{"id":1430,"date":"2021-03-09T10:07:14","date_gmt":"2021-03-09T18:07:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/enchelmaierj\/?p=1430"},"modified":"2021-03-09T10:07:14","modified_gmt":"2021-03-09T18:07:14","slug":"beaver-lodges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/enchelmaierj\/beaver-lodges\/","title":{"rendered":"Beaver Lodges!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have been learning about <em>structures<\/em>.\u00a0 There are many structures in nature created by animals.\u00a0 This Spring Break, families may be able to notice the structures created by many birds in their natural habitats.\u00a0 The Beaver is another builder that makes use of the trees of their habitat. Their lodges are noticeable in ponds and lakes right here in Burnaby.<\/p>\n<p>Division 10 students decided to offer their services to the beavers. They role-played that they were architects for a building business and the beavers were their clients.\u00a0 Check out their beaver lodge builds and their business comments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Taj Sahaj Beaver Lodge Builders<\/strong>:\u00a0 We started with a mud base and then added brown sticks and kept building upward.\u00a0 Our challenge was making sure it wouldn&#8217;t fall.\u00a0 We enjoyed sticking the sticks inside the mud and adding moss.\u00a0 \u00a0Taj and Sahaj<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nature&#8217;s Building Group<\/strong>: We started by making a really strong base in the shape of pentagon. We built 9 layers.\u00a0 After we made an open space for the beavers to live, we added the roof. Our challenge\u00a0 was keeping the sticks together with the mud.\u00a0 We enjoyed throwing sticks around for the roof.\u00a0 Maiia and Mashi<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tree-O Architects<\/strong>:\u00a0 The three of us started with the ground.\u00a0 We began with the shape of a triangle.\u00a0 We added sticks to make the sides of the lodge.\u00a0 We put mud to keep the sticks building up.\u00a0 Our challenge was that it kept falling apart.\u00a0 We worked together to make it stable.\u00a0 Karina, Karen and Arya<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beaver Builders<\/strong>: We started with the bottom and then we began to build up.\u00a0 We added some mud at the top.\u00a0 We covered the mud with bark.\u00a0 Our challenge was molding the mud so that the sticks would be strong on the side. We enjoyed building the lodge and we hope our clients are happy.\u00a0 Kai and Parineet<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beaver Stick Business:\u00a0 <\/strong>We started by making a square shape on the bottom. Then we filled the square in. We then tried to build the rest of it in a circle shape.\u00a0 The challenge was trying to get the round shape.\u00a0 We were happy that we never gave up.\u00a0 We like our lodge.\u00a0 Dayven and Hope<\/p>\n<p><strong>Muddy Lodge Building Company: <\/strong>The first thing we did was the mud surface.\u00a0 Then we began to add the sticks while using more mud.
