Our 55 tiny, pinkish-orange, chum salmon eggs have arrived! They were delivered on Friday January 7th and the students welcomed them this morning.<\/p>\n

Here are a few photos – be sure to ask your child to tell you all about them.<\/p>\n

We are providing them cold, clean water and lots of oxygen. They have a redd (nest) for when they hatch.<\/p>\n

We will monitor their water temperature daily and check the pH and ammonia levels weekly to keep them healthy.<\/p>\n

We also calculated the salmon’s ATU (Accumulated Thermal Units) to determine when they will hatch. We predict the hatch will occur on January 27th.<\/p>\n
