Pro D Day <\/strong><\/p>\n April 26th is a Pro D Day and the school will be closed.<\/p>\n School Photos<\/strong><\/p>\n Students who began attending school in January will have the opportunity to take their school photo tomorrow morning in the gym. They will be called down during class to get their picture taken.<\/p>\n At Home Student Portfolio Share April 27 - 30<\/strong><\/p>\n We are pleased to invite you to take part in our first At-home\/Virtual Student Portfolio Share. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, we regretfully will not be able to host families into our schools. Instead of meeting in person, your child has made a reflective comment on a few work samples for you to look through on Freshgrade. Their personal reflections on their work samples are available for you to review the week of April 27-30<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Our goal is to celebrate all that the students have accomplished this year and to make visible the growth that has taken place.\u00a0 Please take the time to go through your child\u2019s Freshgrade portfolio with your child<\/u><\/strong>. To make the experience meaningful for both you and your child, we ask that you take a few minutes to fill out a parent response form.<\/p>\n Please return the completed parent response by Wednesday May 5.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n SUGGESTIONS FOR PARENTS BEFORE PORTFOLIO SHARE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n As we look forward to our Student Portfolio Shares, we have compiled the following list of suggestions, which will help ensure a successful experience for you and your child.<\/p>\n BEFORE THE PORTFOLIO SHARE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Make this a time when your child has your undivided attention.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n Pick a special spot around your house.<\/p>\n Allow your child to direct the PORTFOLIO SHARE he\/she has prepared for you.<\/p>\n DURING THE PORTFOLIO SHARE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Focus on the positives and smile!<\/p>\n Employ active listening skills:<\/p>\n Use eye contact<\/p>\n Maintain positive body language<\/p>\n Listen attentively<\/p>\n Paraphrase<\/p>\n Offer encouraging comment<\/p>\n Ask open-ended questions. \u00a0For example:<\/p>\n Tell me more about this.<\/p>\n Is this your draft copy or final copy?<\/p>\n If you did this again, what might you do differently?<\/p>\n Did you do this work individually, with a partner, or in a group?<\/p>\n Show me the steps you took to complete the project.<\/p>\n Tell me something new you learned as you worked on this.<\/p>\n Look for the development of thinking skills and ideas expressed in writing.
