If you are returning to school today, I am sure you have similar feelings.<\/p>\n<p>This week will look a little bit different than our previous weeks of remote learning. This is especially important during times of change or transition.<\/p>\n<p>Adrienne Gear believes there are three main types of emotions \u2013 <em><strong>positive, negative,<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and<em><strong>\u00a0anxious \u2013\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>each can be managed with different actions.\u00a0 Depending on what the feeling you are experiencing, you can\u00a0<strong>\u201cKEEP IT! CALM IT!\u00a0<\/strong>or\u00a0<strong>COURAGE IT!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>KEEP IT:<\/strong>\u00a0When we experience\u00a0<strong>positive feelings<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 excitement, joy, love, gratitude, peace \u2013 we want to\u00a0<strong>KEEP<\/strong>\u00a0those inside because they fill our hearts and make us feel good.<\/li>\n<li><strong>CALM IT:<\/strong>\u00a0When we experience\u00a0<strong>negative feelings<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 anger, hurt, hate, frustration, disappointment \u2013 we need to<strong>\u00a0CALM<\/strong>\u00a0those feelings and practice deep breathing and mindful techniques.<\/li>\n<li><strong>COURAGE IT:<\/strong>\u00a0When we experience\u00a0<strong>anxious feelings<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 fear, apprehension, nervous, or worried \u2013 we need to<strong>\u00a0\u201cCOURAGE IT\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>(poor grammar, I know!) by finding courage to overcome the feelings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Monday<\/span><br \/>\nPart 1 \u2013 KEEP IT \u2013 Exploring positive feelings and actions \u2013 happy, joyful, thankful, excitement, peace, proud, amazed.<\/h3>\n<p>Please read: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3n4rQkkvJG4\"><em>100 Things That Make Me Happy<\/em> \u2013 Amy Schwartz\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Read a Loud, &quot;100 THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY&quot;\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3n4rQkkvJG4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Then, complete the first column of the <a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/daneshwands\/files\/2020\/06\/Keep-It-Calm-It-Courage-It-Template.pdf\">Keep It Calm It Courage It Template<\/a>. Makers<\/h2>\n<p>Create an emotions structure.<\/p>\n<p>Refer to this planning sheet: <a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/daneshwands\/files\/2020\/06\/Makers-emotions.docx\">Makers &#8211; emotions<\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Plan 1<br \/>\nUsing the three main emotional categories (Keep it, Calm it, Courage it), plan what each of these emotions may look like if they were a physical structure.<br \/>\n<strong>Keep it (positive feelings)<\/strong> &#8211; ex. calm, content, excited, happy, curious &#8212; For me this would look like sitting at the beach or in the forest. Colours I may include in my structure would be yellow and green (everyone&#8217;s will be different).<br \/>\n<strong>Calm it (negative feelings) &#8211;<\/strong> ex. angry, frustrated, confused, sad &#8212; For me, this would look like a big, dark pit. Colours may include black or red. I may want to include a lot of spirals or angry, jagged lines.<br \/>\nCourage it (anxious feelings)<br \/>\n<strong>Courage it (anxious feelings) &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>ex. worried, concerned, intimidated, afraid &#8212; For me this may be standing at a cliff&#8217;s edge, or at the top of a roller coaster. Colours I would include would be very mixed!<\/li>\n<li>Plan 2<br \/>\nHow will you turn these emotional categories into a physical structure? This may be a house with three rooms, a three-headed monster, a robot with different categories, a theme park with parts focusing on each category.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Create<\/li>\n<li>Test\/Fix<\/li>\n<li>Share<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>e.) Genius Hour (optional)<\/h2>\n<p>Continue your Genius Hour project. You may want to focus on your \u201cweird animal\u201d this week.\u00a0 This is an ongoing project. If you have completed it or are just starting, here is the planning sheet to start a new inquiry:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/daneshwands\/files\/2020\/04\/GeniusHourPlanningSheet-3.pdf\">Genius Hour Planning Sheet<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Follow these steps:<br \/>\n<strong>Brainstorm<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 what topics interest you? Write down topics that interest you (e.g. birds, palm trees, global warming, Jupiter, etc\u2026). Select one to focus on this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 What\u00a0<strong>deep<\/strong>\u00a0questions do you wish to explore on your topic? (e.g. how do birds fly?)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 How are you going to find answers to your questions? With limited variety of resources, it will likely be online or an interview with an \u201cexpert\u201d on the topic (perhaps family\/friends).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Present<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 How are you going to share your knowledge? Please come up with a a way to briefly present your project.
