To discuss:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Assignments &#8211; on Microsoft Teams<\/li>\n<li>Sharing Circle &#8211; today at 11 am<\/li>\n<li>Learning Opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1>1. Assignments<\/h1>\n<p>Please ensure that you are able to submit your assignments on Microsoft Teams. There is a handful of you who still have not submitted their assignments through Teams. If you have a Google Doc that you are emailing me, please copy and paste the link to Microsoft Teams &#8220;Assignments&#8221;. This is helpful because I am able to keep track of all your work in one spot.<\/p>\n<p>I am still writing report cards and would love to get as much new work as possible.<\/p>\n<h1>2. Sharing Circle<\/h1>\n<p>We have Sharing Circle <strong>today at 11 am<\/strong>. Please access\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/portal.office.com\/\">Microsoft Teams<\/a>\u00a0a few minutes early to make sure you are set-up. Please enter the call with your camera microphone on \u201c<strong>mute<\/strong>\u201d (click the camera and microphone button, it should have a line slashed through it).<\/p>\n<p>Guidelines to note:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Please be kind and respectful through out the entire call.\u00a0<strong>We are all being vulnerable by sharing and attending the meeting.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Please inform a parent\/guardian about this video call.\u00a0<strong>Be sure to ask for permission before joining.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you need a refresher or have not yet viewed the video conferencing guidelines, please do so before our call:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/learning.burnabyschools.ca\/parents\/\">video conferencing (click<\/a>)<\/p>\n<h1>3. Why?<\/li>\n<li>What are you <strong>grateful<\/strong> for?<\/li>\n<li>Think of <strong>2 stars and a wish<\/strong> for your past week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>b.) I suggest you share it to a member of the household that is not your mom. Reading<\/h2>\n<p>Read for at least 20 mins.<br \/>\nIf you would like to activate your thinking even more while you read, I suggest following one of these roles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Connector<\/strong>: What does this part of the book remind you of? It can be connection to yourself, others, the world, or other text (books, movies, plays, stories, song, etc).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sketch Artist<\/strong>: Visualize \u2014 draw what you read using clues from the reading.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vocabulary Seeker<\/strong>: What words are interesting? What words are new to you? Find them in the dictionary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, consider listening to an audiobook as well.<\/p>\n<p>Try\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stories.audible.com\/discovery\">Audible<\/a>\u00a0(free online) or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/libbyapp.com\/\">Libby<\/a>\u00a0(access local public library audiobooks). I am currently using and loving Libby!<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">Extension Activities<\/h1>\n<h2>e.) Genius Hour (optional)<\/h2>\n<p>Continue your Genius Hour project. Refer to yesterday\u2019s post for more information.<br \/>\nRefer to this planning sheet:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/daneshwands\/files\/2020\/04\/GeniusHourPlanningSheet-3.pdf\">Genius Hour Planning Sheet<\/a><br \/>\n<em>Work at your own pace!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Follow these steps:<br \/>\n<strong>Brainstorm<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 what topics interest you? Write down topics that interest you (e.g. birds, palm trees, global warming, Jupiter, etc\u2026). Select one to focus on this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 What\u00a0<strong>deep<\/strong>\u00a0questions do you wish to explore on your topic? (e.g. how do birds fly?)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 How are you going to find answers to your questions? With limited variety of resources, it will likely be online or an interview with an \u201cexpert\u201d on the topic (perhaps family\/friends).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Present<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 How are you going to share your knowledge? Please come up with a a way to briefly present your project. This may be through a speech, slideshow, poster, poem, comic, video, song, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Share<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Practice your presentation and share \u2014 either to me, family\/friends, to the class during Sharing Circle.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>f.) Makers \u2013 Imaginary School (optional)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>If you finish early<\/strong>\u00a0and wish to extend this project, please create a visual of your imaginary school.<br \/>\nExamples of ways to present can include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Online image (through scratch\/illustration software)<\/li>\n<li>Diorama\/shoebox\/cardboard display<\/li>\n<li>Drawing<\/li>\n<li>Map<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>g.)
