Here is a video about some of the history of the M\u00e9tis sash.<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/L7TeEt5qa0Q?si=x6zCL0Hg_FWbYJ9_\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There are different styles of finger weaving, and some can be very complex, so we started simply with using five loops (check out the instruction video <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/TgJCiK9HQFM\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5236\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/couttsa\/files\/2026\/03\/MetisWeaving1-223x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"223\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/couttsa\/files\/2026\/03\/MetisWeaving1-223x300.jpg 223w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/couttsa\/files\/2026\/03\/MetisWeaving1.jpg 326w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 223px) 100vw, 223px\" \/>Students worked in pairs to help each other learn the process. One student held the yarn while the other did the weaving.\u00a0 Weaving was like learning some new dance steps, but once we understood the pattern we were flying!<\/p>\n<p>We started with two colours, but then some people tried three or four or even five colours for their second try. More experimentation to come!
