Hi! I’m Ms. Coutts!

This is my first year as an intermediate teacher at Seaforth Elementary, but I’ve been teaching in Burnaby for many years. My other role at Seaforth is as head teacher, so I will be working two days a week in the office as well.  I’ve taught in various schools around Burnaby since 2003, and  I feel so fortunate to have learned and taught in Burnaby. I attended Armstrong Elementary, Cariboo Hill Secondary, and Simon Fraser University for my undergraduate, teacher certification, and Master’s degree. Even my parents were also Burnaby teachers (and are now happily retired.)

I’ve grown up in the Burnaby/Vancouver area, and recognize the privilege, joy, and responsibility of living on the unceded Coast Salish lands of the sel̓íl̓witulh,  xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm peoples. Growing up, I enjoyed a lot of time outdoors in the forest around the Cariboo Hill area and Burnaby Lake. I spent many summers travelling around BC, learning from the coastlines, lakes, and mountains.

I hope to use this page to engage with the students in my class and their parents.  We will update about assignments, fieldtrips and activities, and whatever else we think is useful.

Hi! I’m Ms. Vankadari
I’m thrilled to be co-teaching this year with amazing Ms. Coutts. It’s my first year at Seaforth Elementary. I’ve been part of the Burnaby School District since 2019, working with students across different ages and loving every minute of it.
My background includes a master’s degree in information technology and a former life as a tech consultant at IBM, which means I’m passionate about using digital tools to make learning more engaging and fun.  My journey has taken me across the globe—from Singapore to Australia to the USA—before I finally found my home here in beautiful Canada.
In our classroom, I aim to spark curiosity, encourage collaboration, and celebrate every student as they grow into confident learners and kind humans.
