11/02/22 – Social Studies – Media Note Taking
Today you were assigned:
- Check your Learning on p.45
- The wording may be tricky.
- For number 1, explain why it’s important to be able to analyze texts.
- For number 2, explain how media can influence our perspectives on gender roles talked about in class last week. Remember when we talked about how many kitchen and cleaning products often feature women and how automotive products feature men. How does constant exposure to these messages affect our thinking?
- For number 3, make some connections of how you think your views have been influenced by media.
Upon completion, please take notes, following the format on the note taking sheet that I provided last week on pages 47 and 48. Be ready to share your notes with the class on Wednesday when this is due.
11/01/22 – ELA Writing – What Happened to Francis?
Ms. Rampersad has assigned an assignment. Please follow the instructions below. Because she assigned this assignment, be sure to double check the criteria on TEAMS tonight when she posts it.
Based on class discussion, this is what you need to do. You will need to watch THIS VIDEO.
- Watch the video without sound. Make your own chart (See / Think / Wonder) and fill out as much detail as you can.
- Watch the video for a second time, this time with sound. You should be adding or changing your notes from the same see/think/wonder chart.
- After your notes are complete, use the graphic organizer below and plan your 5 paragraph assignment. In 5 paragraphs, your job is to re-narrate the video using third person perspective (he/she/Francis). The video is already narrated from third person perspective, so your job is to re-narrate it using your own words. You are NOT changing the story, the characters, or the plot.
