Please check out the attached information<\/b> from the Early Childhood Development Table<\/b> \u2013 you will find free family programing<\/b> and links to registrations for this fall in Burnaby. There is a lot to choose from, make sure to take a peek!<\/p>\n

Meet me in the Park!<\/b> Free one-on-one consultations at your favorite Burnaby Park with me, Anita. Ask your questions, concerns and curiosity about your 0-5 year old child\u2019s development, behaviour, child \u2013 caregiver relationship, effective strategies, and parenting information. Children learn from their parents, caregivers, community and elders<\/b>. They will copy and follow adults\u2019 actions, including how to interact with others. Caregivers and parents are very influential as they help kids understand this complicated, flawed and often unfair world. Your words and actions matter. Here are some ideas on how to talk about race, racism and anti-racism with preschoolers. Learn more @ www.feelingsfirst.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What you can do to discuss racial equality with young children:<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Don\u2019t be afraid to talk about differences. \u201cDid you know that people are born with different skin colours?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Share how biases make you feel and why. \u201cIt makes me sad that rules allow certain groups of people to be treated differently.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Frame things as fair and unfair. \u201cThis book included white inventors. That\u2019s unfair because _______ invented things too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Distinguish between different and weird. \u201cJust because something is different, doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s weird. Differences should be celebrated!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Respect and encourage your child\u2019s curiosity. \u201cThat is a good question\u2026I don\u2019t know the answer, but let\u2019s learn together.\u201d<\/p>\n
