We look after our bodies by getting enough sleep, eating right and getting exercise.\u00a0 But how do we look after our brains?<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Dan Siegle, a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine\u00a0and the founding co-director of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/marc.ucla.edu\/\">Mindful Awareness Research Center<\/a>\u00a0at UCLA, developed, along with David Rock:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/camarat\/2020\/05\/03\/may-is-mental-health-month\/healthymindplatter\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-200\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-200 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/camarat\/files\/2020\/05\/HealthyMindPlatter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/camarat\/files\/2020\/05\/HealthyMindPlatter.jpg 600w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/camarat\/files\/2020\/05\/HealthyMindPlatter-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These seven daily essential activities, as Dr. Siegle terms them, are quite self-explanatory, but I do find two activities a bit vague: \u2018downtime\u2019 and \u2018time in\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Both downtime and time in are activities that people tend not to know too much about, BUT are extremely helpful for our mental health \u2013 especially during COVID 19.
