Set up a towel to lay on, put on a bathing suit, or other beach attire, grab some water, maybe a snack, and lay on the \u201cbeach\u201d reading your book, magazine, anything you have in your home to read. Do you need your sunglasses?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>Reading: <\/strong>Read: Read about your animal on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.getepic.com\/\">Epic Books<\/a> website or read for twenty minutes with a family member of a book of your choice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Science:\u00a0<\/strong>Mystery Science: How is Glass Made? <a href=\"https:\/\/mysteryscience.com\/mini-lessons\/glass?loc=mini-lesson-button#slide-id-5489\">https:\/\/mysteryscience.com\/mini-lessons\/glass?loc=mini-lesson-button#slide-id-5489<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"85\">Tuesday<\/td>\n<td width=\"539\">\n<p><strong>Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Write a name (child, family member, pet, friend, etc.) across a piece of paper. For each letter, find an item in your home that begins with that letter. For example,<\/p>\n<p>S T A N L E Y &#8211;\u00a0<strong>S<\/strong>pinach,\u00a0<strong>T<\/strong>ea,\u00a0<strong>A<\/strong>pple,\u00a0<strong>N<\/strong>ecklace,\u00a0<strong>L<\/strong>arabar,\u00a0<strong>E<\/strong>arring,\u00a0<strong>Y<\/strong>ves ground round<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, write a name vertically. Use each of the letters in a describing word or sentence about them to create a name poem. You might try writing a book the way your favourite author writes. Is it with speech bubbles, silly adventures or without words? Or possibly an information book. Or you might think of a favourite character from a book you have read or heard. Could you imagine that character in another story? What adventures might they have? Create a book that stars this character!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading: <\/strong>IN 20 WORDS OR LESS<\/p>\n<p>After reading, ask your children to tell you, in 20 words or less, what was important.<\/p>\n<p>Write down what they say or count the words.<\/p>\n<p>How close to 20 did you get?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math: <\/strong>Go to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.khanacademy.org\/join\/5JMCJ98F\">Khan Academy website<\/a><\/strong> and try the questions I\u2019ve assigned to you on this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0DPA: Heartbeat Excercise<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This activity is designed to get your child up and moving and also begin to develop focusing skills needed for mindfulness. Ask your child to jump up and down or do jumping jacks for one-minute. After one-minute, have your child place their hand on their heart and focus on how their heartbeat and breathing feel.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"70\">Thursday<\/td>\n<td width=\"553\">\n<p><strong>OPTIONAL CLASS MEETING ON ZOOM AT 11:00<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Literacy: <\/strong>Create a commercial or advertisement to sell a product from a favourite story. For example: Pig\u2019s brick house, a house made of gingerbread, a knight\u2019s horse, Cinderella\u2019s glass slipper. How long is two metres? How many centimetres are in two metres?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"70\">Friday<\/td>\n<td width=\"553\">\n<p><strong>Reading: <\/strong>\u00a0 Visit Ms. Su\u2019s website and listen to this week\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/elainesu.com\/books2020.html\"><strong>Read Aloud<\/strong><\/a>. Or try the WWWWWH activity, carefully look at the pictures and writing on the cover of the book. \u00a0Help your child to ask a question about the book that begins with who, what, when, when, where or how.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Art<\/strong>: Show your creativity and upload a piece of art that you&#8217;ve done to our Teams website.\u00a0 Do a guided drawing activity! Make a list of activities that make you feel good. Choose one of those activities (keeping social distancing in mind), do the activity. How do you feel now? What activity might you do next time?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>TWAH:<\/em><\/strong> Please don&#8217;t forget to submit a piece of work that you did this week that you feel proud of.
