Families: Some of you have requested a weekly learning plan that can help you organize and schedule your child’s learning.\u00a0 This is just meant to be an outline to help support you as you support your child.\u00a0 Please don’t feel like you need to strictly follow this plan.\u00a0 It simply provides another level of structure to assist you in deciding what activities you might want to attempt each day.<\/p>\n

Week 3 Learning Plan April 21-24<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Tuesday<\/td>\n\n

Literacy \u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Writing:<\/u><\/strong> Choose a word that has a common spelling pattern\u00a0(e.g. -est, -ike, -eat, -ight, -ow). Write as many rhyming words as you can with the same spelling pattern. Choose one more and do the same thing.<\/p>\n

Reading<\/u><\/strong>: <\/strong>Begin Reading through the instructions for your Animal Research Project.<\/p>\n

Math<\/u><\/strong> – Fill it Up!<\/strong>\u00a0Find different sized measuring cups and a large plastic jug. One at a time, estimate how many of each it will take to fill the jug. Test out your prediction. What do you notice?<\/p>\n

DPA <\/u><\/strong>Alphabet Body: Call out a letter and work together to form that letter by using your bodies. Letters that work well are: A, X, S, C, F, J, I, L, U, V, K, Z. Don\u2019t forget to stretch and hold your position to the count of 10. Try counting in a different language.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Wedenesday<\/td>\n\n

Literacy \/ Earth Day<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Writing<\/u><\/strong>:<\/strong> Find a book online from Raz-Kids or Epic Books about the earth.\u00a0 Write about what we can do to make the earth a better place.<\/p>\n

Reading:<\/u><\/strong> Go to the Raz-Kids or Epic Books free websites and read a book about Earth Day.<\/p>\n

Math<\/u><\/strong>: <\/strong>What is in the kitchen cupboard?\u00a0Think of a sorting pattern for the food containers to organize them. Will you sort them by size and shape? Shape and colour? Or something else? Sort them and see if someone can figure out your sorting rule.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>DPA:<\/u><\/strong> Testing Your Taste Buds: Close your eyes and hold your nose. Your partner will choose a few mystery items from the fridge\/pantry. Once your partner gives you a little taste, describe the taste and see if you can properly identify the food item.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Thursday<\/td>\n\n

Literacy:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reading:<\/u><\/strong> Go to Raz-Kids, Epic Books or one of the other websites suggested in your Animal Research project and begin reading about your animal.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/strong>Writing:<\/u><\/strong> Begin taking some notes about the animal you chose to research on your animal facts sheet.<\/p>\n

Music: <\/u><\/strong>Go to Mr. TDs\u2019s Website lucastds.com<\/a> and check out his weekly music activity.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Friday<\/td>\n\n

Literacy<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Reading: <\/u><\/strong>Continue reading and researching your animal.\u00a0 Visit Ms. Su\u2019s website and listen to this week\u2019s read aloud. https:\/\/elainesu.com\/books2020.html<\/a><\/u>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/strong>Writing: <\/u><\/strong>Continue to work on taking notes about your research animal or Create a scavenger hunt<\/strong>, with verbal or written clues, for another family member to complete. (e.g. In the room where I sleep find a big blue stuffie).<\/p>\n

DPA: <\/u><\/strong>\u00a0Nature Wands. Collect a variety of nature items (i.e. leaves, petals, cones, etc.) to create a \u2018nature wand\u2019 by securing these items to a sturdy stick with masking tape.<\/p>\n
