My background in education is diverse and a long one which included 10 years as a <strong>Business and Information Technology<\/strong> Educator. \u00a0Before coming to Montecito, \u00a0I worked side-by-side with elementary and secondary teachers implementing <em><strong>technology to support student learning as a Program Consultant in Learning Technologies<\/strong><\/em>. I&#8217;ve been involved is various district based literacy <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9661 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/bauers\/files\/2016\/08\/smart_learning.png\" alt=\"smart_learning\" width=\"234\" height=\"172\" \/>initiatives where I&#8217;ve seen first hand how technology can make a difference in a child&#8217;s learning experience. \u00a0As I transitioned back to the classroom, \u00a0I also attended \u00a0a <strong><em>Smart Learning Conference<\/em><\/strong> which focused on Reading and Responding to develop high level thinking and vocabulary. \u00a0I implemented this with many of my classes and saw incredible gains not only in oral language development, but vocabulary and writing. \u00a0This past year at Inman, I introduced the concept of reflection and personal writing through <em><strong>ePortfolio development<\/strong><\/em>. \u00a0As this venue provides an excellent alignment to the BC Ministry re-design curriculum expectations, students will be using it throughout the year. Please read more for your role under ePortfolios.<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 10pt;line-height: 23px;color: #444444;font-style: normal;font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif\">On a personal level, my students quickly learn my passion for science fiction such as\u00a0<em>Dr. Who<\/em>, <em>Star Trek<\/em> &#8211; the original, and <em>X-Files. \u00a0<\/em>Sometimes on rainy days, I may be introducing them to <em>Dr. Who<\/em>.
