Hi everyone. I couldn’t think of a fancy name for this post. Ideas for Friday?
Today’s work includes some research, a journal write, and some math. Be sure to read through this entire post. I’d hate for you to miss something 🙂
OK, I hope you had a chance to think of your topic of choice. Remember, this is a topic that you want to learn more about. Remember too, that we’ve done this in class and it’s not new for you.
Hopefully, you are ready to do some research today. I’ve seen some great topics and some great questions so far. In case you are having trouble with your questions, here’s an example on the topic butterflies.
– I wonder how long they live?
– I wonder how many different kinds there are?
– I wonder if they all migrate?
– I wonder if they can still fly with a broken wing?
– I wonder if they live in groups or by themselves?
– I wonder if they make some kind of home?
Now what I need to do is focus in on an area of interest before I start my research. My example research could be “do all butterflies migrate?” Do you see how your research needs to be narrower than just your overall topic? I could narrow this topic even further by specifying which butterfly or asking where they migrate. *Remember to ask for help if you need it.
To clarify: your job today is to start researching your focus question (30 minutes) (or…catch up by writing your questions). As you research, think of the phrase ‘did you know’ and try to find information to answer this. That way, you are not copying everything from the website you found! Hopefully you can post your findings on Friday.

JOURNAL (15 minutes): If you could join your favourite sports team or musical group, which one would it be? WHY?
MATH: (15-20 minutes):
1. Read the assigned book on Epic (about decimals and money) and do the quiz.
2. Answer these:
– A family of 4 went to the movie theatre. Adult tickets were $15.25 each and child tickets were $6.50 each. How much did this family spend to go see a movie?
– Which is the better deal: One T-shirt for $12.99 OR two T-shirts for $25.00 OR three T-shirts for $30.00? Explain.
– The manager at the concession stand ordered 850 large popcorn bags. On Saturday, 415 bags were used and on Sunday 372 were used. How many bags were used on this weekend? How many does he have left?
– The local baseball stadium holds 1000 seats. If 783 people were watching a game, how many seats were empty?
– Choose your most difficult fact to multiply with. Write out the numbers 1-10 OR 1-12 vertically and challenge yourself. See if you can improve your speed over 3 attempts. Remember to choose the ones you find the hardest to remember. I would probably choose the 6’s or the 8’s. What did you choose?
Money problems
1. 33.50
2. T-shirt for 25.00$ because when you divid 25.00 it equals 12.50.
3. 787 bags have bin used and they have 63 left.
4. 217 seats are empty.

The answer to the baseball question was 217 because I subtracted 783 from 100

I chose the seven times table to practice multiplying.
1.they used 787 bags and had 63 bags left.
2. Movie tickets…………… I added 6.50 + 6.50 which equalled 13.00. Then I added 15. 25 + 15.25 which equalled 30.5. I added it all up which equalled 43.5
The answer is 43.5
They spent $43.50 to see a movie.
The three t-shirt is a better deal because 3 x 25 is 75 but the three T -shirt is $30.00.
The manager used 787 on the weekend. There are 63 bags left.
There are 217 empty sets.
It took me 43 second to do my 8 times table.

.(1) $43.50 because their are 2 adults and 2 kids so 50 +50+25+25=150 and 6+6+15+15 equals 42+the cent it is 43.50$.
.(2) I think it was the one where their was 2 t-shirts and it equaled $25 .o o.
.(3)their where bags used because 415+372 =787 and their were 6 bags left because 850 -787 equals 63 .

I would join Vancouver Canucks because I would be able to experience being on the ice. I also want to join the Canucks because I would be able to meet some of the best players. The next reason I want to be on the Canucks is because I would get a lot of money. I wanted to be on the Vancouver Canucks for a day because hockey is my favourite sport.

2.)Number 2 is a good deal because mostly 1 T-shirt equals $25.00 and it is a pretty good price.
3.)787 popcorn bags were used and 63 popcorn bags are left.

1.)Doctors may not be sure what services they’ll be performing for individual patients, and some patients require more time for their services than others.
2.)Doctors take care of us because that is their job.
3.)Yes,doctors have holidays. They have a special schedule for holidays and breaks.
4.)Doctors make a lot of money because their salary Average is in the high wages.
5.)Yes, Doctors will get sick if they don’t follow the hygiene rules they will get sick.
6.)When Doctors get sick they go to their doctors to get their medicine.

I would join the Los Angeles Lakers because there is LeBron James and Anthony Davis who is my favorite players. The next thing I would be in that team because I love basketball. I am a great passer and defender. I will become starting player.

15.25 x 2 = $30.50 adult tickets
6.50 x 2 = $13 child tickets
30.50 + 13 = $43.50 total cost of movie ticket

The team sport I would like to join is…….
The team sport I would like to join is Team Canada Equestrian Jumping. I chose this team because I love equestrian team sports, and this inspires me when I grow up because I love horses and when I see the horses jump with the rider I always see a great bond between the horse and rider. They look very professional when I see them, and they look like they have been practicing for months and years. They look very proud to be performing in front of the crowd!!!! I would like to meet some equestrians from the team one day. They must be the best because they are representing CANADA!!

I would join the Whitecaps team because my favourite sport is soccer and I go to watch there games. My dad and my brother went to a game. Then they came home and told my mom and I that they lost by a point. I also want to join their team because they are really good at soccer.
If I could pick any team It would be Adagio Rhythmic Gymnastics. The reason I chose Adagio Rhythmic Gymnastics is because it’s a great sport. I have done Rhythmic gymnastics before, and I loved it. It has lots of ordinary pieces of equipment like a ball or a hula hoop or even a ribbon. But you can do lots of cool tricks with them.
The best part about rhythmic gymnastics is that it helps you became more flexible and strong. When you are flexible you can do neat tricks like doing splits, or doing proper cartwheels. I love gymnastics because it never gets boring.

For Math questions the first one so if adults cost 15.25 and kids cost 6.50 so

I rode a couple of times and when I was really young. I used to ride the pony’s at the PNE. I enjoy them so much that I started to love horses soooo much! I jumped a couple of horses once and that was so scary! I got to jump a HUGE horse! I will be a four star eventer when I grow up for sure. I went trail riding twice and I love it! Sometimes I still ride though. My family members think I am risky but I will have to follow my dreams. I am a bit young at my age to ride competitively. I took a lesson before and it was awesome. I got inspired by Hawly bennot- Awad. Thats the woman I wanted to be for a day in Topic of choice.

If you could join a sports team or musical group which one would it be and why?
I would join Vegas Golden Knights because they have one of the best goalies Marc Andre Fleury. He made a lot of good saves. One time he jumped across the goalie net to save the puck. The team is doing really good this season because of there players and goalies.
Why I wanna be on that team is because of that goalie Marc Andre Fleury. I always looked up to him and he was really helpful for me because he made me into a goalie! Yay now I want to be on that team and they have Mark Stone, he is really good.
