{"id":180,"date":"2020-01-17T23:37:47","date_gmt":"2020-01-17T23:37:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/andersonm\/?p=180"},"modified":"2020-01-17T23:37:47","modified_gmt":"2020-01-17T23:37:47","slug":"january-13-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/andersonm\/2020\/01\/17\/january-13-17\/","title":{"rendered":"January 13-17"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The hot (or rather, cold) topic of this week was snow!&nbsp; Wednesday&#8217;s snow day threw in an extra bit of excitement for students.&nbsp; I hope that the weather did not cause too many challenges for parents.<\/p>\n<p>We continued multiplication in Math, working on quick recall of basic facts.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In French, we developed greater vocabulary for expressing our preferences for sports, food, and music.<\/p>\n<p>In Science, students worked on completing their presentations on body systems.<\/p>\n<p>We worked on finishing our fabulous artist colouring pages.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And finally, we began Lit Circles!&nbsp; Students will be working in groups to discuss their novels, and each week will have a different role in the group.&nbsp; The Discussion Directors will come up with questions to guide the group discussions;&nbsp; Connection Makers find similarities between the text, other books, themselves and the world; the Summarizer is tasked with summarizing the sections read each week; the Word Wizard seeks definitions to unfamiliar words; and the Passage Picker finds significant passages from the chapters and explains their relevance.&nbsp; The novels under study are: <em>Wonder<\/em> by R.J.
