{"id":133,"date":"2019-12-07T00:24:58","date_gmt":"2019-12-07T00:24:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/andersonm\/?p=133"},"modified":"2019-12-07T00:25:44","modified_gmt":"2019-12-07T00:25:44","slug":"december-2-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/andersonm\/2019\/12\/07\/december-2-6\/","title":{"rendered":"December 2-6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Can you believe we are already through the first week of December?<\/p>\n<p>This week, we continued building vocabulary to describe our families in French.<\/p>\n<p>In Math, we practiced addition and subtraction of numbers in the ten thousands, and were challenged to show <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-131 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/andersonm\/files\/2019\/12\/1A39A64A-1DB9-471F-A386-CB405568D3B4-300x224.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/>multiple ways of finding the answers to subtraction problems.\u00a0 Open-ended questions help students to understand the relationships between numbers, not only memorize the steps to finding solutions.<\/p>\n<p>We practiced researching skills and collaborative learning in Science, by working in our new table groups to find information on the respiratory and circulatory systems.\u00a0 For those who would like, there will be a make-up quiz on the musculo-skeletal system on Monday.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-132 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/andersonm\/files\/2019\/12\/2A0400DA-05C3-495D-B543-84D01897C96D-300x224.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/>In Social Studies, we learned about the consensus model of decision making.\u00a0 We practiced this in deciding what reward to have for our class points.\u00a0 From our experience, students worked in pairs to create their own &#8220;User&#8217;s Guide to Consensus Decision Making.&#8221;\u00a0 We also learned about traditional (hereditary and consensus) and elected (democratic) First Nations governments, and how they have been changed due to the Indian Act.<\/p>\n<p>This afternoon, we worked on sewing our Creature Dolls for ADST.\u00a0 I am excited to see these little creatures come to life!<\/p>\n<p>There is a lot going on in the school community over the next two weeks.\u00a0 If you ordered baked goods fro the school fundraiser, please be sure to pick them up this <strong>Monday, between 2:00-2:30pm<\/strong>.\u00a0 The items are frozen and must be picked up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Friday, December 13th<\/strong> is the Holiday Market and Seasonal Crafts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, December 18th<\/strong>, will be the Festive Winter Assembly at 1:30pm.\u00a0 Students have been asked to have their lyrics memorized by Monday&#8217;s Music class.\u00a0 If you plan to attend, please return your ticket order form (green sheet) as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, December 20th<\/strong> will be the Holiday Pancake Breakfast.\u00a0 If you would like to volunteer, please return the form (pink sheet) by next Friday.\u00a0 Thank you!<\/p>\n<p>Have a cozy and restful weekend!\u00a0 Stay warm in this rainy weather.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can you believe we are already through the first week of December?
