{"id":124,"date":"2019-11-30T01:04:43","date_gmt":"2019-11-30T01:04:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/andersonm\/?p=124"},"modified":"2019-11-30T01:04:43","modified_gmt":"2019-11-30T01:04:43","slug":"november-25-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/andersonm\/2019\/11\/30\/november-25-29\/","title":{"rendered":"November 25-29"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The final week of November flew by!&nbsp; We are coming to the end of Term 1, and are working on finishing up many of the projects we have started.<\/p>\n<p>In French, we began a new unit on family vocabulary, practicing using inferencing skills and searching for vocabulary words to help us understand family relationships of a fictional French family called <em>la famille Soleil<\/em>.&nbsp; This was a challenge for the class, but it is exciting to see them piece together the French vocabulary they have learned so far this year!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Math, we continued practicing our understanding of place value, including addition and subtraction numbers in the ten thousands and representing numbers up to the millions in multiple ways.<\/p>\n<p>In Writer&#8217;s Workshop, we are adding the final details to our stories, working on building up editing skills and enhancing descriptive sentences, and adding dynamic dialogue.<\/p>\n<p>In Science, we busily build &#8220;robot hands&#8221; to represent the relationship between muscles and bones in the human body.&nbsp; We learned that muscles are attached to bones by tendons, and that when muscles flex, they pull the bones with them so they bend at the joints.&nbsp; While our robot hands do not have proper joints, and the &#8220;muscles&#8221; (yarn) run through the &#8220;bones&#8221; (paper straws) instead of over them, I hope they helped the class to understand this relationship!&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/andersonm\/files\/2019\/11\/F84F581D-D071-472F-AE21-34D42778A31F.mov\">F84F581D-D071-472F-AE21-34D42778A31F<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We had an amazing session of Restorative Justice on Wednesday, learning about harm, and how we can sometimes hurt or be hurt by people we care about.&nbsp; I am impressed with this group, and how they are building greater and greater trust with one another.&nbsp; Thanks, Division 2, for your hard work.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_126\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-126\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-126 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/andersonm\/files\/2019\/11\/B7A4D7EC-4503-463F-BA2D-C06686CC9D57-300x224.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-126\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My finished example alongside student design templates and the steps to completing our creations<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Although we are wrapping up most projects, today we started a new one.&nbsp; This afternoon, we began a new ADST project that will take us to the end of the calendar year.&nbsp; Since we have been designing creatures in Science class, we are now practicing applied design skills, through the technology of sewing.&nbsp; The class energetically designed updated versions of their creatures, or entirely new ones, assembled a pattern, and some have begun sewing felt pieces into dolls!&nbsp; I think this will be a fun project to take home at the end of December.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I hope you all have a lovely weekend!&nbsp; See you on Monday, Division 2!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The final week of November flew by!&nbsp; We are coming to the end of Term 1, and are working on finishing up many of the projects we have started.
