Last week was the first full week of school for the Kindergarten students. They are learning the rules and expectations of the classroom and school. The students are also learning how to recognize, write, and create their names.
For last week’s literacy activity, the Kindergarten students explored and used different alphabet letters to build their name. Another literacy activity involved the students to create their names using Keva Planks.
What names do you see?
Extension: Try these activities at home.
The classroom has a provocation table. This table is an extension to what we are learning in school. Sometimes it is an activity they have done together in class. Sometimes it is a new activity related to what we are learning. It is intended to provoke and expand on thoughts, ideas, and actions. Our provocation table for the next couple of weeks involves students exploring alphabet letters and creating their names with various materials.
