I hope everyone had a restful and festive holiday break!<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for all the warm wishes, treats and gifts! You all made me feel appreciated going into the holidays!<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few reminders for this week as I am putting together our calendar for this month and getting details organized for our second term together.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring back inside shoes and extra clothing (please label all items within the bag as many students wear similar clothing\/ sizes)<\/li>\n<li>Words of the week is listed in the planner at the beginning of the week<\/li>\n<li>New home reading book sent home on Thursdays<\/li>\n<li>Word work envelopes sent home at the end of the week<\/li>\n<li>Library will be on Tuesdays again this term<\/li>\n<li>Outdoor Classroom is on Thursdays<\/li>\n<li>Please dress for the weather each day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>This terms learning themes will likely be:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>English Language Arts: Story writing, spelling patterns, sentence structure and continue our independent reading progress (phonemic awareness, reading and comprehension strategies)<\/li>\n<li>Mathematics: Gr. 1 Addition and subtraction (1-20) \/ Gr. 2 \u00a0Addition and subtraction (1-100), regrouping and borrowing<\/li>\n<li>Art: Drama<\/li>\n<li>Socials Studies: Rights and responsibilities (ourselves and others in our community)<\/li>\n<li>Science: Gr. 1 (Light &amp; Sound) \/ Gr. 2 (Force &amp; motion) and getting into lifecycles with animal research<\/li>\n<li>ADST: Design projects as well as some coding activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Events coming up:<\/h2>\n<p>Celebration of Learning Assembly<\/p>\n<p>This term Division 12 is also signed up to present with our buddy class for our &#8220;Celebration of Learning Assembly&#8221; on Friday January 26. All families from are invited and I will put this date on the calendar with the confirmed time.<\/p>\n<p>Literacy Week<\/p>\n<p>Starts Monday January 29. This is a week where fun activities occur inside and outside of school to promote literacy in our community!
