In the Burnaby School District, there are four areas of English Language Development: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. As students acquire language, they progress through stages of development. This process may take several years. The descriptive terms on the left may be used in your child’s report to show your child’s current level of language development based on their most recent assessments.
