{"id":1519,"date":"2018-05-25T17:21:28","date_gmt":"2018-05-26T00:21:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/smithjoanne\/?p=1519"},"modified":"2018-05-25T17:21:28","modified_gmt":"2018-05-26T00:21:28","slug":"we-walk-for-water-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/smithjoanne\/2018\/05\/25\/we-walk-for-water-9\/","title":{"rendered":"We Walk For Water"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"h3\">Every day girls must walk hours to collect clean water.<br \/>\nWe\u2019re the generation who can change this.<\/h3>\n<p>Twenty awesome grade 7 students in Me to We walked for water on Thursday, May 24th, 2018 during their lunchtime.&nbsp; Each of them committed to collecting $25 in pledges.&nbsp; Twenty-five dollars gives one person water for life.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>&nbsp;I am proud of this because\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I am proud of walking for water because I get to participate in a charity that helps children (mostly females) that can give a child water for life ($25 gives a child water for life), as well as letting children&nbsp; have an education instead of wasting hours and hours on collecting unclean water.<\/p>\n<p>2. Something new that I learned and understand better\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Something I learned and now understand much better now, is how tiring it is to carry jugs and buckets of water, DAILY for eight hours.&nbsp; As well as how much time children have wasted collecting water when they could be attending to an education for a successful future.<\/p>\n<p>3. My biggest challenge was\u2026<\/p>\n<p>My biggest challenge was definitely carrying two buckets of water for half an hour, but at least I was able to go around the school eight times, and I got a taste of the work many children had to go through around the world.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I still have questions and uncertainties about\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Why mostly girls have to spend most of their childhood life fetching water, why not boys, what makes girls not as important as boys? I think both genders are quite equal, we are both nothing but human beings that all deserve a fair life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every day girls must walk hours to collect clean water.
