Classroom Surveys (Circle Graphs)

Graphing Our Classroom Surveys Using Percent Circles

Students were expected to limit their sample size to a denominator easily equivalent to 100%.  That meant surveying 10, 20, or 25 classmates.  First they had to come up with a question and 4 or 5 choices, make tally marks, write as a fraction of the total sample size, then make an equivalent fraction out of 100.

Some questions they posed were:

What is your favourite colour?

How many letters are in your name?

What is your astrological sign?

What is your favourite ice-cream flavour?

What song do you prefer?

How many hours do you spend on homework per weeknight?

How many tvs do you have in your house?
