Welcome Message

Dear Students, Families and colleagues,

My name is Nicole Webster/Scott and I have been teaching for over 16 years with the majority of my experience in the intermediate levels. I am always searching for new ways to engage my students and deliver a meaningful and academically diverse curriculum. Over the years I have developed a series of classroom units which incorporated multi-disciplinary study, with hands on design, prototyping and building. This style of teaching is gaining traction globally and is also know as “STEAM” education. This refers to a way of teaching which incorporates multiple learning opportunities into one classroom project.
Interestingly, as well as being an excellent way to teach students many practical skills, I also have found that there is an enormous amount of buy in from the students with regard to the learning environment.
Year after year, and class after class, students looked forward to the STEAM based projects and grew tremendously, both as individuals, and as a group. Using combinations of low and high tech resources, such as cloth fabrics with conductive thread and LED lights, students create sophisticated projects in a very accessible fashion.

Welcome to our class and I look forward to working with all of you.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Scott
