If you have permission, listen and send a picture of your response to me: <a href=\"mailto:catherine.raap@burnabyschools.ca\">catherine.raap@burnabyschools.ca\u00a0<\/a>. I started an online gallery of artwork I have received from your listening responses. If you would NOT like to have yours added, please let me know when you email me. For privacy reasons, I will edit out names and divisions.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, here are the instructions:<\/p>\n<p>Find a quiet space and listen to the music actively. <strong>Active<\/strong> <strong>listening<\/strong> is when you listen to music carefully and give it your full attention. (Listen to the music more than once).<\/p>\n<p>Collect the sound with your ears and brain. Think about what you are listening to. Allow the music to affect you and respond to it.<\/p>\n<p>Response options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can move or dance to the music,<\/li>\n<li>act out a story that fits the music,<\/li>\n<li>write a story, poem or journal entry,<\/li>\n<li>create art, or<\/li>\n<li>build a 3D sculpture with blocks\/lego\/or any other materials you have at home<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Take a picture of your response and send it to me. Don\u2019t forget to write your name, division and the name of the piece you are responding to.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some questions you could consider:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What do you hear?<\/li>\n<li>What do you see when you hear this music?<\/li>\n<li>What do you think about or feel when you hear this music?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This week we are listening to a song called \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/safeYouTube.net\/w\/BlUJ\"><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Butterfly<\/span><\/i><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8220;. This is a song sung by one of my favourite groups, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Rajaton<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (pronounced R<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">YE<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">-ah-ton). <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">They are a<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> 6-person <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">capella<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> group from Finland. Do you remember what <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a <\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">cap<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ella<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> means?\u00a0<\/span> <b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A cappella <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">music is music where people sing without instruments. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Do you remember which of the other pieces we listened to was s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ung<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> a capella? If you said <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Stars Wars Medley<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (May 4-8)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, you are correct!<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Head over to your grade level tab.
