If you have permission, listen and send a picture of your response to me: <a href=\"mailto:catherine.raap@burnabyschools.ca\">catherine.raap@burnabyschools.ca\u00a0<\/a>. I started an online gallery of artwork I have received from your listening responses. If you would NOT like to have yours added, please let me know when you email me. For privacy reasons, I will edit out names and divisions.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, here are the instructions:<\/p>\n<p>Find a quiet space and listen to the music actively. <strong>Active<\/strong> <strong>listening<\/strong> is when you listen to music carefully and give it your full attention. (Listen to the music more than once).<\/p>\n<p>Collect the sound with your ears and brain. Think about what you are listening to. Allow the music to affect you and respond to it.<\/p>\n<p>Response options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can move or dance to the music,<\/li>\n<li>act out a story that fits the music,<\/li>\n<li>write a story, poem or journal entry,<\/li>\n<li>create art, or<\/li>\n<li>build a 3D sculpture with blocks\/lego\/or any other materials you have at home<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Take a picture of your response and send it to me. Don\u2019t forget to write your name, division and the name of the piece you are responding to.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some questions you could consider:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What do you hear?<\/li>\n<li>What do you see when you hear this music?<\/li>\n<li>What do you think about or feel when you hear this music?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This week we are listening to the Finale (or the last part) from the <a href=\"https:\/\/safeyoutube.net\/w\/AFeF\"><em>William Tell Overture<\/em><\/a>. It is an introduction played by an orchestra to an opera that was written in 1829 by an Italian composer named Rossini. Do you recognize it from anywhere?<\/p>\n<p>Head over to your grade level tab. There are assignments\/activities for all classes. For additional music activities, explore the online resources\/links.
