Class Work:

Dictee – Test tomorrow.

 

 

Writing

  • Good copies of Fairy Tales are ideally due Thursday.  Given the short week, should any students require some extra time they may hand it in on Monday.
  • Students should have started researching their subjects for their Public Speaking (Concours d’Art Oratoire) topics.  Anyone who does not have their topic chosen is officially behind. Rough drafts are due Thursday, February 8th

Alpha Secondary- I have made arrangements for Alpha to come and see us.  We are still hammering out the details but Grade 7s will no longer be going to Alpha tomorrow.  Alpha is having an open house for prospective students tomorrow evening from 6 – 8 that I encourage all parents and students to attend.

Library – Our library time is tomorrow again (due to ski day).  Students have been reminded to bring in their books for exchange.

And we’re back!  Very excited to have the students back in the classroom!

A reminder to parents and students: technically Term 2 is 1/3 over! I’ve reminded the class that they have 4 weeks left in Term 2 before it will be report card writing time again.  So we’re plunging straight in; some stuff will continue from December, a few things will be new.

Art – Our next artist in our Global Issue portfolios is Vincent Van Gogh.  Students will be creating paintings inspired by their Global Issue using the constrasting colours and heavy brush strokes for which Van Gogh is known.

Global Citizens

Being in the portable has many perks, but also comes with drawbacks. Difficulty regulating temperature being one of them. The students have been doing much better lately at closing our doors to keep the cold weather out (saving our energy) and I want them to know I appreciate that very much.
