Voting

So! On Saturday, I went out and voted. I do not know why everyone doesn’t! After all, we are very privileged that we live in a country where we have the freedom to vote- without fear or intimidation. I love feeling like I’m doing my part too as a proud Vancouverite. I know tha

t you all can relate because you probably had family members and friends who voted but what about you? To vote in Canada you must be:

  • A Canadian citizen (if you are a temporary or permanent resident, you cannot vote);
  • 18 years old or older on the election day;
  • A resident in the electoral district

How do you feel about the voting age? Do you think that it is fair that you have to be an adult of 18 years of age to vote or should you be able to vote at any age?

18 and above:the right voting age

I feel like people should be 18 or older to vote.
Firstly,if we let kids vote then they may not know who to vote for and may randomly vote for people which may result in bad mayors, premiers, and prime ministers.
Secondly, very young kids under the age of 18 may be easily persuaded to vote for someone with a easy bribe like if you vote for me then I will give toys/candy.
Lastly, the way that the voting system is right now is working decently so we should not change the system of only allowing people 18 or older to vote.
THe system we currently have is a good system and if we change the system to that of all citizens could vote may result in many things good or bad (mostly bad things) happening to this country that this event happens in.

    Paragraph: Voting

We as Children shall follow the rules of there being a certain age to being able to vote, and 18 is a reasonable for many reasons.

Children like me these days don’t have much knowledge as the adults do, due to more experience. We have great minds and ideas but sometimes it doesn’t mean it does go towards politics.

Many of us have less experience of these things, as usually we learn more about math and basic skills instead of the statements said by the competitors. Children tend to have much less info about these topics and it should be like that.

Finally as Kids we tend to get tricked into doing many things and believing many of the things people say to us, it may change our opinion very easily into believing the other one is better which may not be entirely true.

We all have opinions but some are more reasonable than others and we should understand that we need to be more understanding of our reasons.

    Kids Should Vote Too
I think that kids can be smart too and we have the right to pick a leader.
Firstly, like I said. Kids are not unintelligent. We should pick our own leaders and stay with the ones we picked.
Secondly, everyone matters. Even if your mean or nice, we all have feelings and but that does not mean that we are not the same.
Lastly, we need too have good leaders and good people. Us kids need to help people make us have good leaders so we have no bad ones.
Overall, I think anybody should vote for leaders because kids are not dumb, we matter and we need to help people vote!

Hello my name is Milica and today I am going to be telling you about why kids should be able to vote at any age. How come kids under 18 are not allowed to vote. I think that is unfair and now I will tell you why. Firstly, I think that it is not fair that kids under 18 are not allowed to share their thoughts on who should make the decisions , rules and laws for the city. Secondly, we should get to choose who we want for mayor because we also live in the city so I think that we deserve to vote. Most importantly, kids should get to vote because kids have voices and opinions as well and not just adults. Over all, I think that kids deserve to vote all over the world. Let kids share their voice and opinions!!!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    Children should not vote

Children should not vote because they will mess up everything.

Children should not vote because they will mess up by choosing random candidates and they do not know who is good candidate or a bad candidate.

We do not know who is who and how the government works, it is hard to see who actually won because the people who read they will see random stuff and crossed every single candidate out.

If a kid runs prime a minister, they will say random, unnecessary rules and it would be chaos and all the kids imaginary stuff will come true.

Kids should not vote, until 18 years of age.

  6. hanaa1 says:

Hi, here’s my opinion on voting:
Should everyone be able to vote?
Recently people have voted for a mayor of their city, do you think everybody should be able to vote, children old and young, even temporary or permanent residents?

Somepeople think children should be able to vote, but children don’t really understand these things. Also children can be bribed very easily and it would not be too hard for someone to say: here vote for me and I’ll give you candy!. However I do think the age restriction of 18 should be lowered.

Children younger than 18 should be able to vote starting at the age 14. These things also have an effect on children and from this age they would be able to understand more about this. Children under 14, who woukld not understand may make stupid decisions, or just guess.

Some children under the age do understand but can you imagine a toddler voting?! Also if you’re a temporary resident or a permanent resident this decision also affects you so you should have the right to vote.

So over all children under 14 should not be aloud to vote and permanent/temporary residents should have the opportunity to vote. So there won’t be any toddlers satnding in the cues to vote!

Thanks and I hope you enjoyed

    What I feel about it:
I totally understand why 18 years or older should vote in the election instead of children voting because they’re not mature enough to vote in the election. I know in Canada, Justin Trudeau he gave us freedom and let the other countries to come to Canada because they don’t have any food or drinks, some where to keep them warm, or any clothes. But I have, the children’s have to listen to the rules.

Here are some reasons why children are NOT allowed to vote in the elections:
Children aren’t really mature enough to vote, yet. When they try to pick someone, they try to see who looks better, who has a great smile, or who has great hair. They think they understand/ know everything about politics, but they really don’t. They only know what they see on the media. Most of them simply can’t handle the responsibility of voting. They think that voting is just writing on a piece of paper. It’s the decision that you make and what you write down. They don’t have the authority to go everywhere in life and have the rights to vote. Children are limited in their capabilities or functions within society by law. They lack their own ability/ abilities to make decisions because they’re easily manipulated. Children haven’t even entered into a cell phone contact or take out a bank loan because they lack so much of their mental faculties.

    Closing sentence:
So I’ve gave so many reasons into why children are not allowed to vote in the election. They don’t understand about politics yet, they can’t handle responsibility, and finally they lack their own ability. So, I hope that you understand and agree with me that children are not allowed to vote in the election.

voting is a big topic in the world because only 18 and plus can vote. And I have vary strong feelings about this. And they are a lot of rules like you need to be 18 plus, you can only vote once ext… How do they think that all the people in the city can follow all the rules and expectations?? well if you what to know what I think keep on reading.

well first, Ido not want a tow year old voting for a five chined man. we should be able to vote at ten years old. Because we could have changed the whole Tump thing no TRUMP to build a wall children will take over. ( j.k. we are to nice to do that.) But we would be better than orange faced man over here. aka TRUMP I know that spelling his name all caps is annoying but what ever it needs to be clear. So back to voting. We can show our own opinion and feelings.

secondly, can I say something I honestly I do not like the ida of voting why cant we just pick someone how hard is that?? not vary hard see children do have a propose but we should be able to vote still. we should be allowed to vote so we can change the future. We can see things that others can’t we as in us yes I understand that we are kids but that is what makes us think about this and how e can change it.

last thing we are all human we all have a chance to share our feelings we all can make a difference in this world. we all can by voting that is you chance to shine but we need to change the rules in this place and if you or your parents voted then ask them who did you vote for and why did you vote for them? was it a good ida or not so much?? you tell me.

so how did i do good or great?? do you see what i am saying or not really ?? did you vote or not ?

  9. kevin48 says:

Kids shouldn’t be able to vote in an election or else it would become mad! This why.
Firstly, if some guy types in they play Fortnite, kids would just vote him and then friend him. That would make the election unfair!
Secondly, most kids wont even bother reading their description so they would just choose the best looking dude. That would make it unfair too!
Lastly, babies might just spam the keyboard and click a random dude.
That’s why kids shouldn’t be able to vote in an election!

  10. kenrich1 says:

So the winner is I mean hi guys and today Im gonna tell you why kids should not elect people.
Firstly some kids aren’t as smart as others yet some kids don’t know how to spell words.Kids aren’t as good with letters as adults so that’s 1 Of the reasons kids should not vote in elections

Next Kids don’t have as much knowledge as adults. So some kids might not know what election means others might not know who are these people. So that’s why if you’re a kid with know brain you should not vote for an election

Finally My reason for why kids should not vote is that they don’t know everybody but that kids cant have to be lifted by parents. Ya toddlers on wheel chairs cannot enter areas to vote that is why kids should not vote

Now is time to see who won the… just kidding but anyways do you think kids should vote in an election hmm but thanks for listening and Ill never see you again Bye

  11. matthew88 says:

I think people under 18 shouldn’t be able to vote

I believe that the people over 18 years of age to vote should stay here are 3 reasons why.
the first reason is that adults are a lot more responsible not including that cannabis is now legal.
Plus I don’t want a 3 year old voting for a man who’s gonna make guns legal.

The next reason is that kids wont really know how to vote and they might put a paper saying yes or dab on the haters or something like that. I don’t even know how to vote I would probably wouldn’t vote in the first place.

The final reason is that kids probably wont vote after a year or two they are to lazy ( not saying every kid is lazy but some are kind of including me)instead they will mostly play video games and watch T.V. Then it would be pointless to let kids vote.

All in all the reasons are that adults are more responsible, kids wont take it seriously and kids wont even vote after a while.

  12. jemimah1 says:

Voting: Not ready for it yet

voting is an amazing wonderful thing that you have to wait until your 18 to do. and i agree that it should stay that way.

firstly, the adults are way more responsible then kids and have a better chance of making the right choice. they would look at all the sides of the story before coming to a conclusion which is something that is needed when you are making a decision as big as who will rule the city for years.

secondly, kids are just dumb. instead of being smart about ot, kids would just not care as much with who will be in charge and choose the one that looks the best or is the most important not how they would be in charge of everything.

thirdly, kids are easier to bribe than adults. by that i mean that if you ever wanted to bribe kids you could just by them a toy or candy and chocolate. at least if you try to bribe adults you can lose hundreds of thousands of dollars by the time they actually do what you want them to do.

so overall, from adults being more responsible, to kids being just dumb, to them being easy to bribe, it is clear that voting should and will always stay for adults.

  13. tiya1 says:

I say voting is for adults and here is why!
Adults should be the only ones voting because children may think that voting is fun but it so much more than fun. Firstly children should not vote is because adults can make better choices most of the times because they have more information, experience and they are more mature. Secondly adults should only vote is because most of the time children only Jude if the people look good and adults have a deeper opinion because they do deeper research of who they are in real life. Lastly children should not vote in the election is because you never know if someone has bribed or influenced the children with candy, chocolate and lots of other goodies! In conclusion children should not be able to vote is because they do not have all the information and they are not as mature as there parents, also children only judge if the person looks good and parents know of who they are in real life, and children can be influenced really quickly with goodies ,I would now I am a child!I hope you agree with me! : ) πŸ™‚

hello people should children vote? Here are some reasons why children should vote.

first of all some children are very responsible and some can make very good choices and can also might vote for a very good mayor.

Secondly there are going to be more votes so mayors have more votes and it might be better.

lastly it helps children later in life because the might make better when they vote later they will make better votes later in life
honestly i think children should vote

  15. beatrice7 says:

We all know that adults 18 years of age and up are allowed to vote. But it isn’t fair that kids don’t get to vote just because we are younger. We all have an opinion that we sometimes share, and even kids our age like to share our opinion.

Firstly, it isn’t fair that kids aren’t allowed to vote just because we are younger. Even kids our age have a voice that they use to speak up with. Kids our age also have a mind they use to make choices or decisions with.

Secondly, I don’t get how the age of the of the people who vote is connected to the person they are voting for. It’s not like the person who is being voted for is going to be friends with the people who voted for him or her. To me, it is the count that matters, not the age. If there is a good reason why kids can’t vote besides “You are too young”, I’d like to hear it.

Thirdly, I think that kids not being allowed to vote because of their immaturity is a stereotype. Not all kids our age are very immature. It’s like kids our age can’t watch or play with Barbie because we are to mature, just the other way around. There are a lot of stereotypes in the world, so let’s try to avoid using them.

These are my reasons why kids should be able to vote. Maybe instead of letting kids of any age vote, maybe let their brains mature a bit more and make the starting age 13 or 15 instead of 18,so that we won’t have to wait to very long.

By Beatrice (Omg, i feel like that was a bad idea)

What i feel about younger kid voting. Imagine that you walk into a voting area to vote for a decent mayor, (etc) and then your and find a young child who puts a ballot into the voting box. What would you think? Well i think that it’s inappropriate because the child might not know what there doing they could be lost just wondering around and conventionally find a box to put there messy written vote in. Which leaves me to the next solution. young kids aren’t the brightest, so they so if they let any immature kid put their vote in any box for a random person to me mayor? i think its just a waste of time to put in a ballot and they don’t know anything about it. Another reason is, what if the kid is easily convinced and some suspicious person comes up to them and bribes them with some candy. some dumb kid takes the ballot and votes for the worst ever may in the world. and the parent won’t pay any attention because there voting themselves .Overall this is why i think its not right to have young kids voting for random people that they might not know what it means that is why i would respect the rule of 18+ because there more mature.

  18. daniel166 says:

Why kids should have the opportunity to vote.
kids should have the opportunity to vote because since there are more kids than adults the voting number will get bigger. you know what I mean?
if kids vote, they can learn. But i know some kids can’t decide so they would go like eni mini mo…
its also not fair! you can think about it… you done i hope so. I think you guessed it you said: ”yes thats not fair” so that is why kids should have the opportunity to vote.

  19. jason78 says:

    Paragraph: Voting

In my opinion, I think that being older to vote is a good idea or a good law and here is why.

First, being 18 or older to vote is a good idea because people that are older will understand how to vote and know what to and will make our country better, while kids or younger won’t understand how to vote and won’t understand what they are doing.

Second, being 18 or older to vote is a good idea because older people or adult people will totally understand what to do, while kids will think that person is cool they will vote for him or her. For example, some people will say that they play ROBLOX or FORNITE kids will vote for them to be the mayor, council, or government.

Lastly, being 18 or older to vote is a good idea because some people understand what to do when kids don’t understand what to do. And adults will understand what the answer are.

Overall, I think that being 18 or older is a good idea or law because some kids wont understand what to do, and adults know who to vote for that make our country better.

  20. mark28 says:

I think kids should not vote because…

First of all, If little kids under the age of eighteen got to be able to vote they ‘ll probably vote for the candidate the looks better or plays the same video games or does the same stuff.

Second of if little kids got to vote they will look at the picture for twenty seconds, then the will glance at the first word of their description and that will be how they will choose who they vote for. For example, there is a very famous fortnite player goes for president and hates kids over an ugly fat lady who loves kids they will definitely pick the fortnite player.

Finally, did you know that the school trustees that live in the town hall decide that kids should not vote for the mayor, council, or school trustee because their brains do not fully develop when they are kids.

Lastly I think that kids under the age of eighteen should defineteil not be allowed to vote because, they will pick who looks better, they wont read the description, and they dont have a fully developed brain so thats why i dont think they should be allowed.

  21. harry17 says:

Why Kid Should Under 18 shouldn’t BE Allowed to Vote

Do you kids want to vote? Well I’ll give you a reason why not to vote in the referendum.
Firstly, you shouldn’t be able to vote because you might not be able to make the right choices like the people who voted for Clinton didn’t make the right choices but I’m still not saying Trump is good.
Secondly, if everyone voted their would be to much votes like if you were to count the votes to figure out who won you would not be so happy.
Lastly, kids can easily get bribed so their parents can bribe them with candy or electronic and it can also be a gift card for something.
Your kids shouldn`t be able to vote because kids might not be not be able to make the right choices,
there would be to much votes, and kids can easily get bribed.

  22. vincent31 says:

Kids should not vote until they are 18.

First, kids don’t know who they should vote for and they just chose the one they think looks better and if there is a amount of kids then we could have a bad priminister .

Second, kids could just vote for who their parents vote for and there might be more votes on one person because the child copy’s what there parents vote for with out thinking who is good for the country. Also kids get tricked very easily the president could say that he plays minecraft or roblox and the kid very likes those games so they just vote for that person when the person dose not actually play those games.

Third, voting is a big thing if they chose the wrong one our life can change just because the kids do not choose the right one for our country.

Kids are not smart enough , they choose what their parents vote and voting is too big of a thing for them.
