Earthquake Strikes Indonesia

Unfortunately, a devastating 7.5-magnitude earthquake and ensuing tsunami hit the island of Sulawesi on September 28th. Sadly, many have been hurt, killed or displaced.

As you can see on the map, Indonesia is situated beside Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia and New Guinea. Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelago (a group of islands) . It contains roughly 17,000 islands!!

For your blog post, you will be writing two separate paragraphs. One paragraph will focus on facts about Indonesia. There are links listed below for you to perform your own mini-research on Indonesia and write about at least 10 new facts (grade 5) or 15 new facts (grade 6) that you did not know about. All of these facts must be in complete sentences.

Links:

Your second paragraph will be roughly 10 sentences (grade 5) or 15 sentences (grade 6) about your thoughts/feelings about what has happened in Indonesia. You can also talk about how the earthquake occurred and why it caused so much damage (look up ‘liquefaction’).

Since this is a sensitive topic, please treat it as such…which I know you will!

Lutheran World Relief is working with our local partner to provide food and essential items such as mattresses, blankets and feminine care kits to 1,000 households in two villages in Palu.

We have committed $100,000 to support the response.

    Situation Overview

On September 28, 2018, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Donggala District and Palu City in the Indonesian province of Central Sulawesi. The epicentre of the earthquake was 10 km (6 miles) deep and approximately 27 km (17 miles) east of Donggala. The earthquake caused a tsunami in coastal areas, with surges as high as 20 feet.

Indonesian authorities are working to get food and life-saving aid to victims. There are more than 2,000 confirmed fatalities and hospitals are overwhelmed with thousands of injuries. The president of Indonesia has visited the disaster zone twice this week and has directed an emergency response task force to deploy additional support. At this point, the government’s primary concern is getting emergency aid to isolated areas and work on repairing key infrastructure such as roads and bridges.

The Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), regional disaster management agency, military, police and other government agencies are coordinating the response effort and collecting information on the impact of the earthquake and tsunami. The most pressing needs are ready-to-eat food, basic medicines, psychosocial support, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). The government has been dropping supplies by parachute to areas unreachable by road.

The local airport, Mutiara Sis Al Jufri, was reopened for commercial flights on September 30. As of October 2, 400 government personnel had been deployed to Palu to assist with rescue and protection efforts. Delivering aid to the affected area has been difficult as the local airport can only accommodate small planes.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), the Government of Indonesia is welcoming international support to respond to identified humanitarian needs. International humanitarian organizations must submit written proposals to the NDMA before launching operations and all humanitarian shipments must be approved by the government.

My thoughts and feelings on the Earthquak of Indonesia:
In Indonesia, an earthquake recently struck the city of Sulawesi. Over a thousand people have died and over 5000 could still be lost. Many people have lost all they have and are now left homeless, I think people should have been quicker on the response and helped more people. The runway for the Indonesian airport is broken though. People must be heartbroken at the sight of losing their loved ones in such a terrible event. People right now are sitting in makeshift camps wondering when their next meal would be. Many have small babies and are struggling to take care of them. People right now must be feeling sad, hopeless, angry, hungry and disappointed. Buildings are crashed and there are many people underneath, hopefully waiting for a medic to come and get them. So many people are still lost wandering around looking for their families and home. In the towns of Baleroe and Petobo many people have been crushed under buildings which have collapsed due to soil liquidation (when soil become liquid causing buildings to collapse). We should all do what we can to help them and hopefully one day the City of Sulawesi will be restored.

    The Indonesian earthquake

The Indonesian archipelago (series of many islands) reaches at a length 5,000 kilometres from the asia mainland into the pacific ocean. The population expands up to a whopping 252 million people. About 80% of the population is islam while the other pile has a belief in christianity, buddhism and hinduism.
Tragically an earthquake hit the island of Sulawesi located east of Borneo, west of the Maluku Islands, and south of Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelag. It is also the eleventh largest island in the world. During this unfortunate event the entire 1.5 million of the Island’s population suffered the unfortunate happenings and are likely to suffer a lot of trouble. The last report says that over 50000 people that have a worse fate than others of the earthquakes as most of the number are dead, misplaced or missing and are still counting. Many people are homeless and are in need of some serious help. The destruction of earthquake that hit the island caused a lot of destruction. The tragedy caused a whopping 65,000 houses to be destroyed.
The central sulawesi island earthquake happened two months after the earthquakes that hit/struck Indonesia’s Lombok Island. The strongest of the earthquakes was a 6.9 magnitude temblor on August 5th. That earthquake caused a lot of destruction and a lot of the same unfortunate happening in the Sulawesi earthquake that happened this year.
Many negative things happened in indonesia and i’m afraid there are still going t be more coming its way but many people are trying t help with the events. For example, a company called World Vision. They have sent a lot of support to families and kids, they set up camps for people to live at and also provide them with their daily needs. World Vision have set up children education centre’s to provide a healthy and caring environment for many others. So far this company has distributed 8500 litres of clean water, food packs and shelter kits all for an astonishing 954 families.

  17. dennis7 says:

I think that what happened was very scary. I am really sorry what the earthquake did and we should help them to fix what has happened. The sad earthquake happened when struck Indonesia’s Central Sulawesi province on Sept. 28, 2018, triggering a tsunami and landslides that caused widespread destruction and loss of life. More than 2,000 people are known to have died and at least 2,500 are seriously injured, according to the Indonesia disaster management agency. With about 65,000 houses damaged or destroyed, more than 330,000 people are homeless. Thankfully people affected by Indonesia’s 2018 earthquakes will need help for years as they rebuild their homes and communities. A 7.9 earthquake hit Indonesia and triggered a massive tsunami, bringing 20 ft waves that wiped out parts of the island. About 1.5 million people in Central Sulawesi are likely affected. I think that we people prevent these things. I hope that Indonesia is safe and well with no more earthquakes.

  18. yang1 says:

    My opinion

The earthquake’s are rattling the surface of the many islands in indonesia. For this I really have many frustrations for these events. I feel like the things the people experience are unfair. Even though many of the population in Indonesia work their souls day to day for long periods of time they still do get treated with nature’s actions. Although we can’t control the things nature does to us we shouldn’t be living in fear or with the thought that β€œwhen the next quake happening” or if we are prepared, which is probably what the indonesians are thinking of right now. I feel like the many charities or offers of help that are being set up are really thoughtful of the businesses and how they provide many helpful ways of re-establishing the lives of many families shows a lot of care in the incident.
I am super surprised by the fact of how many recurring activities that continue to happen in countries like indonesia. The fact that how much the destruction that could happen so suddenly is more than just shocking, it’s getting ot a point where it is starting to get terrifying. Especially when the events can do as much as being able to crush the lives of over millions of other people at a yearly standpoint has to be one of the most feared experiences anyone could receive.
I feel very unfortunate for the people not just in Indonesia but, who are experiencing fatal losses in their lives and hope to see us as a community rise together as one. I believe that the support that the people who are showing the others who are living in trouble, will eventually power out their losses and bring them back to who they were before. I hope the people in fear will understand that there is always hope in this world.

Now, for my reasoning behind the earthquake and why it happened.
In the archipelago (many Islands) of Indonesia include thousands of volcanic Islands. All of which are created over time from plates moving/shifting and molten rock or magma, exerts pressure. Indonesia is a Southeast asian country wich is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire. The Pacific Ring of Fire is where slabs of the earth’s crust – tectonic plates – crush, creating Earthquakes when the plates shove against one another. The Ring of Fire is where along it, most Earthquakes occur.

    Same as the PREVIOUS paragraph

  19. jeron1 says:

The population of Indonesia is 252 million people. Their are 300 different languages spoken in Indonesia. Over 2000 people died in the disasters. %75 of volcanos are in the active volcanos on earth. There are 30000 people displaced during this disaster. The ocean sent 50 feet tall waves crashing into Indonesia. An average Indonesia person can live up to about 68 years old. Indonesia has over 17000 islands. It has the biggest archipelago on earth. The Indonesia flag is red on top and white on the bottom.

I wish the people evacuate the time they knew it. It could of saved a million lives. We could of helped them find a new home and everything. We should help them rebuild their houses, give some food and some money. I’m sad people died it is like losing a family member. It must be hard to survive two disasters in one day or two. Why does earth has to have disasters? Why!?!?!?! The event happened by lose soil that sent waves crashing into Indonesia. IT created a lot of damage done to houses people and buildings. I hope this never happens again.

I am here to tell you ten facts about Indonesia. The Indonesian archipelago has been an important region for trade since at least the 7th century. This paragraph is about the thoughts and feelings I have about the earthquake and tsunami.

When the earthquake hit thousands of people were missing in Beleroa and Petobo where rivers and soil swept away lots of neighborhoods. The confirmed death is about 1,763 in Indonesia but in central Sulawesi’s largest city, Palu there are 265 deaths. Also during the earthquake water presser is generated in the soil which causes a dramatic loss of strength. the strength loss can be so great that soil behaves like a liquid. There are lots of earthquakes in Indonesia because Indonesia is an archipelago and that means there are lots of volcanic islands, which are made over time as plates shift and molten rock, or magma, exerts pressure. The Southeast Asian country is located on the Pacific Ring of fire. Where slabs of the earth crusts -tectonic plates- clash, creating earthquakes when the plates push each other against each other. Ninety percent of earthquakes occur along the Ring of fire. I feel really bad for them because I can’t imagine how it would feel to have everything destroyed in your country and lose your parents. It must be devastating when you can’t find your parents or family. I really hope more and more doctors come to heal people so they make Indonesia the beautiful country it is again.

    3. Many people are struggling to get basic goods and needs, such as food and clean, drinkable water. They can die without hydrating and eating. The more people die, the less people will be in Indonesia and it will be poor.
    4. About 350,000 people have been running to find solid ground as structures were destroyed by waves of undulating the earth. Kids been running too, across the streets because they have to bring food and water for their family as fast as they can.
    5. Hundreds of tourists remain stranded in ships/ boats, hotels were filled to capacity and rescuers continued to dig through rubble in a search for survivors.
    6. At least 98 lives and injured an additional 236 people. It was left at least 20,000 people homeless, and sent thousands of tourists fleeing so the tourists would be safe.
    7. No tourists were reported killed, but the earthquake on Sunday, which struck at 6: 45 pm. local time, it was felt as far away as the neighboring island, where two people had died there.
    8. The earthquake and the dozens of aftershocks that have followed have left many people jumpy, panicked, and unwilling to stay indoors but to stay outdoors.
    9. In Mataram, the main city of Lombok, many hundreds of people slept in fields or their cars. Some even slept in the streets, thinking that it would be safer than staying in their homes/ indoors.
    10. Many tourists wanted to depart Lombok as quickly as possible, but they were unable to get flights off the Island and the airports were all fallen apart.
    11. Many people jumped in panic and ran for the exits, even the mosque, and when they thought an aftershock had struck, it was actually a false alarm, so they all came back in and continued what they were just doing.

    15. Among was the deadly earthquakes in history was the magnitude 9.1 quake that struck off the west coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

    My thoughts and feelings:
All of my heart I felt so sad and worried for those families who lost their love ones/ family members and I hope that they can go through it and just move on, instead of just crying every single day, and I also hope that they can take care of their family, keep them safe for the future, have more food and water for them to eat and drink, live life happily, and smile:).

did you know that almost all the people in Indonesia are suffering because they can not find any food or drinking water right under our noses because of the earthquake in patobow ? And we are here taping these plastic keys with our stomach filled with food and clean water?? how does that feel to you not vary happy so … we can stop this by making stronger homes in areas that have more of a possibility of a earthquake. That will have a better chance of the home of sating up.Also if we make the house lower to the ground so it is a shorter longer home instead of a skinny tall. This should result in a better and safer chance of people not getting stuck under the walls of the home or structure. With no doubt almost 744 homes have been barred beneath the surface . and 5,000 people ate sill missing under the ground. and the dirt and soil tun in to liquified sand and sucks all the things on the surface and all of this took on September 28 2018. can you believe that ???? you think that needing to walk home 10 or 20 minutes home after school is hard what abut not having a place to walk home to. or having no home ? well this is the reality for the insentient people of this town. they didn’t deserve this. this is not fair no one deserves this. we all need to help this poor town. it was like getting sucked in to quick sand. and the quick sand all over the town.

Recently, there had been earthquakes and a tsunami. The quakes had started about 2 months ago. The tsunami was measured to be about 5 meters, or 16 feet high. About 400 people have been killed, 540 people are injured, and 29 people maybe alive, but they have gone missing. Around 4,500 pregnant women have been devastated. In the Palu airport, a runway have been damaged, flights are being limited. A doctor from a hospital said that the earthquake had disrupted the electricity, so there is no internet or signal. They are hoping to have a new hospital soon. Apparently, more than one place in Indonesia has been affected. There were also 46 aftershocks. The quake was centred six miles deep, which is about 9.656 kilometers long. When the tsunami hit Indonesia, a few coastal buildings were destroyed, and a major street had flooded. The soil is very wet; too wet to use heavy equipment for recovery. I feel really sad for the people who have been affected by the earthquake. I am also relieved because my family and friends in Indonesia are still safe.

My Thoughts and Feelings: I almost suffocated when I heard that Indonesia had a earthquake and a tsunami at the exact same time. I bet that it was super terrifying for the people who lived there or for the people that still live there right now. I just feel so bad for the people that got hurt , and even the people that lost there loved one’s. The people lost everything that they have. Even, though they did not have much even before the accident so they must be living off of a very few thing’s right now. The children living there are almost dyeing because they have very little food, shelter, warmth and clean drinking water. All of these things that I have listed so far make my heart just beak into a million pieces. I just Think about ” what if it happened tome

The Rafflesia flower might be over 100 centimeters (39 in) in diameter, and weigh up to 10 kilograms (22 lb). Did you also know that with over 238 million people, Indonesia is the fourth most populated country right after China, India and the USA? Fun fact, the equator cuts right across Sumatra, Sulawesi and Kalimantan with some small islands. Did you now that the capital of Indonesia is Jakarta? Yes? Well did you know that Jakarta has no railroad system? So that means that with a population of over 10 million people in cars and buses, that means horrid traffic! Did you know that Pierre Coffin the dude that did the voice for the minions(all of them) was from Indonesia? Because I didn’t! Did you also know that Marco Polo was the first European that visited Indonesia in 1292? I bet you didn’t know that during world war II the Japanese invaded Indonesia in 1942 to 1945? Also, did you know that Indonesia is the third worst emitter of greenhouse gasses in the world?
To me, I feel horrible for the people that had to go through that. I can’t even imagine having to leave this country because of a 7.5- magnitude earthquake. Normally when I take a glance at the news when its tuned in, it doesn’t really affect me too much. But while reading this info and watching the videos, it felt even more real than normal. Which is why I’m saying that I had much respect for these people that went through this. Before you start talking, lets put ourselves into there shoes. You are enjoying yourselves and having fun when out of nowhere the ground starts to shake and after a few minutes, your house sinks into the ground. You start running away and while you are you see families crying and screaming and yelling for there parents, or siblings, or spouses. Out of nowhere your grandma falls behind and gets swept away by the mud. You run to safety with tears in your eyes and hug your family or what’s left of it. Was that sad? Well, that’s what many people had to go through during this whole moment. Guess what these people that had to go through are doing? Grieving there lost ones and pushing through it all to get the rest of there family to safe ground. They’re pushing through the pain and guilt to help the people on her life that are still alive. Which is why I hope-no wish, that at the end of all this they can relax and live the rest of there life peacefully.

My thoughts and feelings about the earthquakes and tsunami :
Palu, which has more than 380,000 people, was strewn with debris from the earthquake and tsunami. A mosque heavily damaged by the quake was half submerged and a shopping mall was reduced to a crumpled hulk. A large bridge with yellow arches had collapsed. Bodies lay partially covered by tarpaulins and a man carried a dead child through the wreckage.
When the tsunami wave hitting the city of Palu, Indonesia on Sept. 28. The U.S. Geological Survey said the strongest of two major quakes had a magnitude of 7.5 and was centered at a depth of 6 miles about 35 miles NE of the central Sulawesi town of Donggala lots of people past away. Some of the injured, including Dwi Haris, who suffered a broken back and shoulder, rested outside Palu’s Army Hospital, where patients were being treated outdoors due to continuing strong aftershocks. Tears filled his eyes as he recounted feeling the violent earthquake shake the fifth floor hotel room he shared with his wife and daughter. It’s the latest natural disaster to hit Indonesia, which is frequently struck by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis because of its location on the Ring of Fire, an arc of volcanoes and fault lines in the Pacific Basin. In December 2004, a massive magnitude 9.1 earthquake off Sumatra island in western Indonesia triggered a tsunami that killed 230,000 people in a dozen countries. Last month, a powerful quake on the island of Lombok killed 505 people. When I heard about this I was so sad for the people’s family/friends that I nearly cried😒. Seriously why do there have to be any earthquakes and tsunami? I hope more advance doctors will be able to save more people.

    My Thoughts
I feel that these natural disasters are affecting many many families and they have lost their homes and now have no home anywhere in the world. I feel like many people are feeling sad and hoping that eventually thing can go back to normal. And I hope that the damage done from the devastating earthquake and tsunami can be undone. The damage done by the disasters is huge: houses, buildings and skyscrapers destroyed, rubble from the building and earth have blocked many roads and communication and electricity is down. The enormous amount of damage is magnified because of liquefaction. Liquefaction is a phenomenon where which the strength and stiffness of a soil is reduced by earthquake shaking or other rapid natural this made the houses that were already straining under the earthquake and tsunami collapse. I feel that many people in Indonesia right now are in unknown places that may be hundreds of kilometers away from their hometown or city and are desperate of a place they could call home. In many cities people are waiting on streets for government workers to get them out of this place that was once their home. Many people are in places far far away from their former home and are grieving for their lose of their family and friends. There are people waiting in overcrowded airports to be evacuated from their homes. There are also people that are sitting in makeshift camps and wondering when they are going home and if there is the next meal and water is going to be radiationed out to them. There are many people that have gotten separated with their family and are doubting if their beloved ones are alive and if so where are they? Even right now as you read this there are people being evacuated and there are new people being announced dead. The family members of the dead are heartbroken about their family member being dead.As many people must think : this natural disaster has affected many many people from all over the globe. There are people waiting to be reunited with their family if they ever can.I feel like that this catastrophe disaster may be one of the most deadly, costly and the most affecting in Indonesian history.

Another fact you might not now about Indonesia is they are very rich on resources. And in Indonesia there are over 300 ethnic groups in Indonesia. And my thoughts on the Earthquake and tsunami are that many people in Indonesia could got very seriously injured because when the Earthquake came the building could fell on top of a pedestrians. Another thought that I had of the Indonesian Earthquake is that many of their home could of been destroyed or demolished in pieces. πŸ™ And even I large bridge collapse during the Earthquake. And there are more than 98 dead and 20,000 homeless in Indonesia. πŸ™ And the Earthquake on a rate it was 7.0. On September 28 201 , a 7.5 magnitude earthquake ruined Indonesia near Sulawesi and caused a shortly after caused horrible tsunami. it said, that the waves are 18 feet enough to drown a person. it said that 2000 people have died, and 2500 have been seriously injured. Indonesia disaster management agency has said that 1.5 million people in Sulawesi where likely affected. sadly about 65,000 houses have been very damaged and all those houses destroyed there are 330,000 people and children are homeless with out proper shelter. All that is mostly left is all the remains of torn houses from all the madness which is going on. It said that it might take many years to rebuild. series of earthquakes and numerous after shocks affected north and east Lombok including Martaram city which is home to 440,000 people so many where injured. the komondo dragon is found in Indonesia ! its a big scaly reptile and an average male can grow up to the size of 8 to 9 feet wow. Indonesian dances reflect on diversity of culture from groups composed by the nation Indonesia themselves! there are 300 different cultures in Indonesia.

how i feel about this problem
i feel deeply sad about this bad tsunamis and earthquakes that Indonesia has been through. i wonder why we barley get earthquakes. i feel that all those people who had died from this disaster are living in a better place but i feel very sad that the poor families who are suffering isn’t right. i wish there wouldn’t be any natural disasters cause life would be a little calmer for the people in the world.and i also wish that we could do something to help so we donate at least that’s okay and all those rescue people provide food and water for those suffering. maybe after all the destruction they can slowly re build to probably make their community better .And the people be uneasy about more after shocks from the earthquakes. I also feel very sad for the families who have lost their loved ones. I’m very fortunate to live in Canada where there isn’t too much bad things that are happening. i wish there where more people to help aid them give them the right treatments. i cant believe how sad it could be to in their problem ill be in distress and very terrified i wish these horrible problems in the world couldn’t harm or destroy anybody’s home

The country of Indonesia is ethnically diverse, with around 300 distinctive native ethnic groups and over
740 different languages and dialects spoken in the country. Indonesia’s population is about
252 million people live in Indonesia. There are 300 ethnic groups and 365 different
Languages or dialects are spoken. The main ethnic groups are Javanese, Sundanese,
Indonesian (Malay), Madurai. The official name of Indonesia is the Republic of
Indonesia. Indonesia consists of five main islands in a group of more than 17 000
That’s a lot of people for just 5 small islands. Although Indonesia is usually peaceful
In 2018 a 7.5-magnitude earthquake and ensuing tsunami hit the island of Sulawesi
On September 28th. That killed a hurtled and injured a lot of people that is deadly
For a country with 252 million population ouch. So that was scary but that’s not all 65 000 houses
Were destroyed. Over 1000 people died and 1500 injured and only about 1000
People were not hurt or injured or killed. So ya that was scary but anyways
Indonesia is still a great place to live.

So What I think about the earthquake and tsunami man a 7.5 earthquake must be deadly I could only imagine living in Indonesia and earthquakes are extremely hard to survive and a ton of people died and for that I’m sad and scared about the people who died. That is not the 1st time that’s happened but god dam it is scary.

Indonesian authorities are working to get food for people who lost their home because they went from millionaire to beggar. Over 2000 people have died from the flood but over 5000 people were never found! Many people lost their family and had lost their homes. Massive waves devastated the Indonesians after an earthquake hit on September 28th! Hundreds of people have died and the death toll continues to rise! Thousands of buildings have collapsed including hospitals and McDonalds. Makeshift medical centers are being set up outdoors. Rescuers can’t reach the affected and remote areas because of the dangerous roads. This is the second mayor quake to hit Indonesia in two months. The name Indonesia is derived from the Latin word Indus meaning Indian. Indonesia is the world’s largest county comprised solely of islands. It is composed of 17,508 islands, some 6,000 of which are inhabited. On September 8, 1664, the Dutch under Pieter Stuyvesant made one of the most bizarre real estate deals ever when he traded the rights of the islands of New Amsterdam (now the island of Manhattan) for the tiny British-controlled Indonesian island of Run. This transaction was also an important turning point in American history. Marco polo was the first European to visit Indonesia, in 1292.

What I think about it, I think that I feel very lucky and humble to be in Canada because we haven’t got any hurricanes, but in the old days we had a earthquake, but it was small, that’s it.In Indonesia, they had a huge tsunami, violent movement, an enormous amount of water that is sending powerful shock waves in every direction. For the people that survived through it (thank goodness) are now homeless, and I feel really bad and worried for them if they are going to stay homeless like that, and I hope that they won’t.I wish I can donate for charity for them and go around BC and talk about the Indonesian tsunami and to tell the people to help them by donating food and water and clothes to keep them warm, but I am too young, I can donate clothes for them, but the rest I am too young to do it. But at least they have some food and water for them to eat and drink, blankets for them to sleep and snuggle, and tents for them to stay in and to keep them balmy;). Overall, what I was talking about was that I felt really humble to live in Canada and that in Indonesia was super crazy, I wished that I can donate for charity with food, water, and clothes, and that I hope that they won’t stay homeless.

A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck ON Sept.More than 2,000 people died and at least 2,500 are seriously injured.About 1.5 millon people?in Central Sulawesi are likely affected. With about 65,000 houses damaged or destroyed, more than 330,000 people are homeless or without shelter.More than 500 people were killed and nearly 1,500 were injured. About 340,000 people are still missing.A magnitude 7.5 earthquake and tsunami killed more than 2,000 people and laid waste to Palu, the capital, and nearby areas on Sulawesi island.About 300,000 people are still missing from major earthquakes that hit Lombok island on July 29, Aug.5, Aug. 9, and Aug. 19.
What they didn’t know was that, just about that same time, a 10-foot wall of seawater was tearing through the city of Palu and other areas .

A 7.5 earthquake is very strong it must had destroy many houses and after that a tsunami came and washed the island and the earth quake is 10-foot tall. That is very high it might even be as tall as you house.I feel very bad for them all that earthquake and tsunami losts of stuff is gone. Also 2,000 people died and thats alot like alot. This hapened just recently in sept 28 2018 so that means right now they are still fixing it.2,500 people were seriously injured that means that some people from that 2500 people could of dided from serious injures. There were more than 330,000 people who did not have selter I feel very bad for them beacuse that is more dangerous when you are just walking down the streets. then a 10 foot wall of sea water is behind you.About 300,000 people are still missing and we might not know if some of the missing people are dead or not. Those people might not even know were they are on a island for something.
