Birth Tourism

Welcome to yet another controversial topic which asks for the thoughts of you – vocal and opinionated smarties!

There is something that has been happening in our province that has been stirring up a lot of hullabaloo. Did I say stirring, I meant crying! You are probably wondering, what! Ever heard of ‘birth tourism?’ Well birth tourism is when women travel to another country so that they can give birth to their baby.

Why do people do this, you ask? If you are from a country that is perhaps less socio-economically developed (remember, we don’t use words like First World or Third World anymore!), why not have your child born in a country that will give them better living conditions? In fact, this child will get free public schooling, healthcare, other aid and eventually be able to sponsor their parents. Sounds good, right? Well, this is what some people are starting to think and are travelling to countries, especially like: Hong Kong, the United States and Canada (top three for birth tourism).

Why are these countries such hot-spots? Well nations like the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Tanzania and Fiji offer unconditional birthright citizenship. This means that if you are born in one of the above countries, you are now a citizen of that country.

To prevent birth tourism, countries like South Africa, New Zealand, France, Germany and the United Kingdom all have birthright citizenship with restrictions – that is, one parent must be a citizen of that country.  Interestingly, India is one of the only nations that does not have birthright citizenship because of its large population.

Now think about it for a second. You know that your child could have a successful life if he/she/they were Canadian, wouldn’t you want to help your child in any way you could? What happens if schooling costs lots of money in your home country and you would not be able to pay for your child’s education? But let’s also think about people who are trying to immigrate to Canada and have to wait so long to be reunited with their family. They have to go through lots of detailed paperwork and scans? How is it fair to them?

So of course, it is time for you to weigh in. What are your thoughts about this issue? Do you agree or disagree with birth tourism, and why? Do you think that it is a big deal or is the media / government making us feel that it is? Please provide detailed responses of 15-20 sentences.

I agree with birth tourism because if you are born in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Tanzania or Fiji, you are now a citizen of that country. Other countries like South Africa, New Zealand, France, Germany and the United Kingdom all have birthright citizenship with restrictions-one parent must be a citizen of that country. India is one of the only nations that doesn’t have birthright citizenship because of its large population. I think that maybe the media or government is trying to making us feel that birth tourism is such a big deal.

This is one of those topics that are hard to take sides on. I can understand why these countries do this, but on other other hand, the parents are just taking care of their child. Canada is getting more diverse by the second by this (not saying it is a good thing all the time) but I think this is not too much of a big thing, as you are helping others by giving them a good start. Maybe they should keep it, but be ready if it gets out of hand. This is a problem hard to fix. The people here do not want to spend money to help the immigrants, but the immigrants do not want their baby to live in poverty. After all, who would NOT want to live in Canada? Other the whining-about-taxes problem, I feel like we should not restrict this. You saw the petition; more people want keep birth tourism. As I said before, this should not be such a big thing. Only 5% of the births are foreign (although I have a feeling it is going to increase) so do not start screaming about the end of “Canada’s purity” or something like that. Besides, we have more alarming topics right now (global warming much?) Anyway, would you like your child to have free healthcare, citizenship, and education? Keep that in mind, fellow Canadians. I want free healthcare, because I am having it right now, at this moment. It is a problem, but not a big one at the moment.

I think that I wouldn’t do this. It is unfair that you have to be away from your family for so long and you if you go to America then you’re going to have to deal with Donald Trump. Who would like that (okay …I think I got carried away. but who want’s trump?)? I think that people are choosing to do this because they want to have their child born in a safer place (but if they go to the states then they probably have mental issues. no offence to those trump lovers down there). They are willing to sacrifice being away from their family for a long time and have to go through lots of difficult things. Now if you think I think that this is super serious well I don’t. This is just some people deciding that they want to go somewhere else to raise their child and think that they can live away for their family for a while. I can see this happening if there is a giant fight in the family and someone decides they want to go away from their family and they can use birth tourism as an excuse to get away for a bit. But this is just some people making decisions and people are making a big deal about it. The media is tricking us! Donald trump this is when we need you to say ‘fake news’, kind of. So if you didn’t know yet. I neither agree nor disagree. I think people can make their own choices and no one should be stopping them from doing that. The media is making a big deal out of this and the media should not be making such a big deal. Again the media is trying to fool are foolish little brains and feed some stupid information in our brains. This is the media people, don’t be fooled, its just people making decisions.

That wasn`t very nice of them to say that they should eliminate birth tourism. what is one of the workers in the hospital had their mothers come here and lay babies here? who even said that? I dont get this again how tragic this world can be or anymore. The hospital said that they should eliminate that, but at what cost though? they never though of that and stupidly said that for no reason because the population is overfilling here. so what the government could get more workers and besides if they had more people coming more people would be working for here! and is that a problem with me if i was them? isn`t that obvious? it`s a absolute YES no matter what happens. i don`t care what it is important.

like i know that when pregnant and travelling you could give birth to a child in a country you are not a citizen to the country then technically according to the law the baby is a citizen to the country. but why cant we/humans have a baby in Thailand then bring the baby back to your original country? and then you would have to be away from your family and what if no ones there to take care of that baby? and what if the person does not want to take care of that baby? they’ll be really far from their child/baby just because they dont want that bébé? ahhahahhaha bébé bébé!! XD. but yeah what if the parent doesn’t want that bébé? like what if that bébé will be so lonely. *insert sad violin* but if one of us like get a bébé in a different country we be very sad. bye.

In my opinion, there is no racism because there are better qualities such as free healthcare which is always a good thing. But in one way you could look at it and think it is racist because maybe one person could look at it as they think that Canada is better than a country for a racial reason which would honestly kind make sense in one way, but I think it is not racist. I can understand why people would want to go to Canada. One is the capitalism, you can choose your job. Some countries like North Korea or China are communist. The other reason is free healthcare. Imagine that you are a person who has got a severe injury, they will have pay which makes absolutely no sense because you are hurt, and you should have free healthcare. If you are in Canada, you have free healthcare and free education which is paid by taxes. However, in other countries, the fact remains there is no free healthcarein these few coountries I can name and you need insurance which costs money so yeah. One reason also the former one kid rule in china where you could only have 1 child so Chinese immigrated to have another kid which another example of baby tourism is. The reason that I don’t think its racist because I think that the reason that people would want to go to Canada because there are better conditions and not because of some racial thoughts. If you are wondering if I faced birth tourism no not really, my mom moved to Singapore and I was born there, and I was an Indian citizen, so I don’t think that counts. I don’t understand why we make such a big fuss because it is not racist (in my opinion). The point is that it can’t be racist from different views and you can’t really say oh that’s racist unless they are telling something the people are blah blah blah and they are better than some other race and I want to be the citizen of that somehow better race. When someone wants to go here for that reason that is racist. So the whole point of this wonderful blog is to show baby tourism can be non racist or racist and it depends.

  7. rohan7 says:

i think that birth tourism is a good and bad thing because is you want your kid to have a good job and earn really good money then you would want to do birth tourism because as you said ms. panesar people go there so that there son or daughter could get and education or if you son or daughter is really sick you can go inside the hospital without paying because you pay your taxes and i got that from ms.panesar (thanks.) and i also think that the government is just trying to convince us that tourism is bad and you should never do it. and the bad thing about it is that as you typed people that immigrate will have to fill out a lot of forms and also really detailed and that will take you a lot of time. Plus like I said somewhere in my blog that there is free health care like what is better than free health care and also free education nothing in my opinions and also if you want your kid to be well educated than come here so that he can get free education unless you already paid your taxes in the country you came from then you fine if you didn’t well…..good luck. And here you also are free to do anything like pick your own job, women can vote so basically you have all the free dom you want so yeah and also people here are friendly at least form what I know. And I can relate to that well my sister Can because my mom had to move here in order for my sister to have free medical stuff and also that she can have a chance to have education because over there in my country and I’m sure everyone can reflate to this it’s that in my family’s country they used to hit there whole class if they did something wrong or if they did not give there homework and here they don’t do that because we’re freindly plus that’s illegal if you do then that counts as child abuse so yeah. And also in some countries people are poor and somthimes thoos poor people are about to give birth and you can’t just give birth in bad conditions because there is no dockters to help you and also plus if that baby is sick when it is born sometimes they die, but unlike here you get free health things so yeah. And also you can give it a roof for your kid to live under to so yeah

In my opinion, I believe that we should encourage birth tourism to the whole world. I know that some people believe that birth tourism is wrong, because there are also some reasons why birth tourism is wrong to other people. People won’t agree probably because they are… racist. It is true everyone. I know I might be wrong and there might be other reasons why people are not supporting birth tourism. Birth tourism might be a bad thing to some people and people are different. Some people agree with birth tourism, and that is okay.
*AHEM.* Here we go. I believe that we should encourage birth tourism to the world. Birth tourism help women from other countries to give birth to babies, and that is a good thing. Usually, women come to countries that allow birth tourism because in their country they might not be allowed to have more than one child. For example, ( I AM NOT COPYING PAANINI MY PARENTS TOLD ME THIS INFO SO DON’T ACCUSE ME OF COPYING) my friend who is Chinese was born in Canada. She told me her parents moved here because they want another child. Why? I asked my parents this a year or two ago and my parents said that in China, you can only have one child in the old days, and not two. That explains why my friend’s parents move here just to give birth to my friend. Something similar might have happened in other countries, but I only know China’s. This whole story explains why we should have birth tourism. In conclusion, I believe that we should encourage birth tourism. Same for around the world.

It is like an immigration act but in a very greedy way because it means that you can have lots of free stuff by giving birth in Canada. I would not be happy if I was having to pay for everything and the others just swiping away all these problems. Just imagine two people are starting off the same time. One of them needs to run (Which is the Canadian) and the other just has a car for the race (the citizen from other countries that has a baby born here). I am a kid with birth tourism because of two reasons: 1. In China at that time, you can’t have a second child. I have a big brother, so it means something! 2. My family decided at that time which you said: To live a better quality life, or tourism. I do think this is a very unfair action to the people who haven’t immigrated, plus if everybody had a baby and immigrated, the countries would look like people with different skin tone, languages, clothings, and cultures scattered everywhere.
On the other hand, do whatever you want to do (except bad things). Are you going to let other people suffer because birth tourism is bad? Of course you don’t! You will make the person have disbelief in himself and make his life worse with his low self-esteem! You are the person who controls yourself, not the society. I rather take a risk for freedom than be trapped in a cage. Be you, don’t make yourself like a robot. Birth tourism is not as bad as the other -isms’, because tourism means travel for pleasure and business.
P.S.: Sorry if this is sent at 9:37.

  10. winona2 says:

Why would a soon-to-be-mother want to go somewhere else to have her baby be born? Birth tourism already sounds like a terrible word like colourism, sexism, raceism and plagiarism they are all -ism words. And what, if a women wants to get her child born in some coutry and they don’t let her in, well wouldn’t that be a problem? And if she needs to have her baby soon and they don’t let her in, she will have know idea what to do. Technically they are sneaking into a country. They just tell people “Oh I am just coming to Canada to meet some friends.” But then she gets a baby. And as you know if you give birth to a baby in, let’s say Canada, the mother can become Canadians. The baby will be Canadian by birth and then they can not kick the mother and the baby out of Canada. Let’s also say that the mother, where she lived the school there cost money and in Canada it didn’t. Another reason why she came to Canada. It is just not fair for other people who live in Canada . A lady might just not want to pay for school so they come to Canada to not pay for school. I also feel bad for the children who have to accept that their mother cheated her way into their home. I wonder if the child might be bullied because their mother did birth tourism if they found out about it.

  11. annie25 says:

This is quite stupid, it is basically a free ticket to freedom or a better life. This is also racist because they are all assuming it’s Chinese people I mean that could be true but now they assume that every Chinese Person. This is not fair because our parents had to do a bunch of paper work this progress takes very long especially the before paperwork and the pregnant mothers just get to walk right in. I think the baby is also kind of an excuse to come to Canada. I think this really shouldn’t be happening, and someone really stop this. They also don’t have to pay for their expenses in the hospital for giving birth there, but in the U.S., you must pay 10,000 dollars sometimes we need to learn from them (sometimes). Since they don’t have to pay a single dollar for their hospital expenses, guess where that money comes from. Well in all comes from the tax money our parents pay, while our parents work their butts off and pay proper taxes these people walk in here and get free health care because their stupid baby was born here. My question is do their government know that they are doing this does our president or government tell their government what they are doing? Well I guess our president doesn’t do that because he probably thinks this is alright since it’s his money that’s going to them. I also wonder if the men force the women to get pregnant and send them to a nice place like Canada, so they get out of their poverty and all that. I think a way to stop this is during process of coming to Canada you must check with security and if you are pregnant they security sends you right back home well that’s at least what I would do. It’s been so bad that Ms. Panesar even told me that there are like hotels just for the pregnant women. I wonder what the kids would think of this when they grow older. The people that do are just so desperate, what has happened to this world. My greatest concern is all our money! If these pregnant women keep coming to Canada, our taxes will be higher and one day they’ll just suck up all our money they’re like money suckers. If this keeps going on I might just explode. All I know is this has to stop because one I don’t need no money suckers sucking away all our money second I have a great plan to eliminate all of them!

  12. the amazing joshua says:

I honestly do not know what side I should take. The reason is: this might be able to save lives and keep people out of freaking poverty. Taking this privilege is like taking a person’s chance at life and succeeding at it. On the other hand, it is not fair to just gain these privileges when people like our family had to come here without these privileges and at least gain citizenship. The people who came and gave birth to their sons and daughters gain these advantages without doing anything but giving birth to their child. For instance, a foreign baby could be born here and gain automatic citizenship which results to people coming here a lot, and it can also cause overpopulation here. Overpopulation is a bigger threat than being unfair. We cannot have a LOAD of people clustered in one country or Canada could face poverty and many would die. …okay Josh deep breaths… The second good thing about birth tourism is that it saves a tremendous amount of money and poorer families can benefit in this. Another good thing is that instead of causing overpopulation it can strengthen the community and security. (Ever heard of the Israelites?) It can also prevent illegal transportation into the country, because if they turn this illegal, people would find other ways to get in. If I would be in the shoes of the mother, I would, in order to give my son/daughter a safe community and a chance at life. You may say that you should leave my children here, but can you stand knowing that your son has a more unstable future? I would say SCREW DA GOVERNMENT and JUST DO IT. I indeed agree with the government that this is a BIG matter hidden beneath the mattress. I raise my verdict that this is a huge matter that has been newly illuminated into our society. The END… SIKE!!! I have more to say. I HAVE a solution. When immigrants come, the government should inspect things such as payment and affordability. Immigrants that are richer just come in, immigrants that are poor should have a deal such as, free insurance for the first year. To control overpopulation, there should be a limited number of immigrants travelling here. In emergencies concerning the immigrant, they should be let in. The True End 😉

  13. selina16 says:

I am standing on the side of birth tourism is wrong. If a mother goes to another
country to give birth to her baby sober baby can live better, that is totally
understandable. It is a mom’s job to give her children a better living environment. But if
you think of the place that they transfer to, than there will be a small or maybe a big
issue. People even came to Canada just to give birth. Which means people actually
went back to their country after giving birth. There are actually websites for Chinese to
go to Canada just for the reason of giving birth. Now that went a little too far. If you
come to Canada to gave birth so your baby will have a better health care and stuff,
doesn’t that mean you think it is not safe to stay where you are ordinary? Isn’t that kind
of unfair and offensive for your own country? In some hospitals, the number of people
who came all the way to Canada just to gave birth has been 5000 to 8000 a year. Wow.
People need to stop what they’re doing and trust their own country a little bit more. And
also because passport babies are adding, then it means the problems for the Canadian
doctors are adding, too. Now that we know mothers are coming to Canada to give birth
is because so their baby can get some benefits like free school and free healthcare,
which means proper are taking an advantage of Canada’s laws. and after betraying
their own country, that actually are testing Canada’s nerve, too. Canadians are starting
to think how are they going to solve this. Of course it is good that people trust them. But
the number is growing way too big then they have expected from the beginning. And of
course Canada isn’t the only one that is having this problem. Even in the United States,
people found out the number of the passport babies are being doubled. Which means,
people are really doing whatever they can to give birth to their own babies. And in other
countries, people tell others that the best gift you can give your newborn is a Canadian
passport. What the heck does that mean? People are being so selfish and doesn’t even
care about the people who are having problems. People need to stop and start thinking
    about the others.

So this is a problem of greed since the Canadians do not want the poor to mooch of their hard earned money. Other than that, is it really that bad? so although I am not 100% for it, I prefer it more than none of it. Help the poor, people! This could become a big debate than it already is. I guess there is really nothing else to say on this topic, but I do not hate people who think to get rid of birth tourism, understandable. Keep people out of poverty, keep the children here, and do not whine. Canada is a place open for everyone. I am not sure this is 20 sentences, but I do not have the time. There we go, Bye.

  15. jessie3 says:

I think that birth tourism is kind of bad but also not that bad. I think that it is unfair because they don’t have to wait to get a citizenship and they don’t have to fill out any papers or paperwork. Also, our parents have to pay taxes so that these people get to get free services for giving birth like they get to use the medicine and they don’t have to wait in the hospital to get services right away. Also their child gets to go to school for free. Also, they get into Canada for free and some people get rejected to come into Canada after waiting for a long time. Also, when people are supposed to do the paperwork, they have to make sure they’re not terrorists. But if you have a baby here, they have to accept you as a citizen. What if you were a terrorist? They wouldn’t know. So how is this safe? I have no idea. But they accept this so whatever. It’s totally not like I live here or anything. But I mean, they could just not deliver the persons baby. But I guess that’s kind of weird if you just see a woman giving birth and you just stand there and do nothing. I mean, yeah, you shouldn’t come in to the country without having to do the paperwork, but the mother obviously wants her baby to have the best environment to live in. Because if you live in a developing country, then you want o have your baby live in a developed country. Anyways, thanks for listening or reading . Bye!

  16. daniel169 says:

I think that this is very unfair because why are we paying taxes while other people come to our country and get things for free like school and things like that! Why do we have to waste money on other random people that we don’t even know? People probably come here on purpose because they probably know that they don’t have to pay taxes and things like that and they want their kid to be Canadian. Now I feel like the government shouldn’t be doing that because it’s just not fair. I think that the people that are coming to Canada to do birth tourism should at least pay some taxes right? I mean we are giving them free school and free other things so they should at least pay like $100.00 or something like that for free education for their child right? Don’t you guys agree with me that this is very unfair? The government is making us pay taxes so that we are letting other people come to our country for free. I mean I like to be nice and stuff, but this is very unfair, I know I said that a lot but it really is unfair! The government is making us do this because I don’t think that the government is paying the taxes only the citizens. Birth Tourism is good to the people that get free stuff while we have to pay taxes, sigh! That is very sad why do we have to pay taxes anyway? I think that this really unfair as we are paying money to help people but they aren’t even saying thank you! If you did birth tourism you would probably think that this is perfectly fair but I don’t! I don’t know what your opinion is, but I totally do NOT agree with birth tourism. If we are going to do birth tourism we should pay less and the government should pay more. Now that is what I think. In the end. I still think that it is bad. 🙂 🙁

  17. brodie1 says:

Well i think it’s … I don’t really think its a bad thing or a good thing it pretty much depends on which side your on like if your having a kid, its good and wonderful for you, but if your on the other side its kind of annoying. It’s kind of hard and confusing to choose if its a right thing or not, because if you agree to it your helping a persons life but if you don’t agree to it your putting down someone but helping your parents and other people who live where you live. I just cant really think either because you said “Hullabaloo”. In my opinion honestly i think its a good thing because your helping somebody who really needs it and plus once they come here to Canada for example: they move to Canada with two kids and get a job they will be working and buying and paying taxes as well , i think. I don’t know if you noticed but you probably have but i really don’t know which is a right thing like both sides have strong opinions, and if you pick not to let them in, your helping your family and Canada but if you pick to let them in your helping a family and making the population in Canada bigger i don’t know if that’s a good thing but then there will be more people getting jobs and paying taxes but i don’t know if increasing the population is a good thing or a bad thing. That’s all i could think of i just cant stop think of the word hullabaloo i’m just gonna spam it now. Hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo .hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo hullabaloo . HHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHA goodbye!!

  18. naomi19 says:

I don’t agree with this because if the mom is Canadian and the baby American that won’t make any sense because it’s like it’s not the baby’s mom because they are from two different countries and the mother has to pretend she’s not having a baby. If she said she was going to have a baby in America they would not let her go. And the mom would have to get an American passport just because of the baby. I think people should be allowed to choose where they want their baby to be born they can’t lie. And it’s so stupid because you have to pay taxes when you have no money! And the baby will have no family to take care of him/her and the baby don’t even know his own family! I don’t agree with this baby tourism. I never even knew about it till now. And I wonder if this happened when I was born? It is not fair to mothers and the babies that they had to go through this. I wonder if this happened to me when I was born but I doubt that it happened to me. Anyways I didn’t know anything about this and I disagree with this. I wonder if this is still happening. It probably is and I think that the government should let people choose where they want their babies to be born it can’t be that hard. Thanks for reading my blog post and I hope you agreed. Thankyou!

For me birth tourism is OK not the best and not the worst. Cause i use to live in Hong Kong and i move over to Canada at the age of five cause Hong Kong ‘s school’s were to hard for me so my mum said we are going to Canada and i am very happy that i came over here. My grandma’s sister was living in Canada so great. Now back to what we are suppose to say is Birth Tourism is good in some countries and in other countries are stupid. If you were born in Canada then you are a citizen of Canada if you born there. They should be born in the country that you are, then later move over somewhere. They shouldn’t be not letting some one not allow to come to a country cause they are pour and have no money. If you came over to United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Tanzania and Fiji when you have no money than no. Now i have written this thing i think they shouldn’t not let us go to those country cause you don’t have money. Hi its Lily wait no Lillian wait no Polly. I think that birth tourism is wrong because it like a free ticket to go to a country and you don’t need to give any info or anything. So basically a normal person would have to pay lots of money and do so much stuff and show your info when you are pregnant you get a free ticket… except your airplane ticket.*SIGH* CONTINUED. They are just taking advantage. Like so you child is Canadian now so boom you are Canadian. BOOM! What if everybody went to the same country to have their baby? Well what if it was Canada. It’s not like “Canada can refuse. “ *sigh* I mean like you want your child to have a successful life then just come to Canada or wherever after your born. You can still have a successful life as you are a Canadian or wherever resident you’ll have better jobs. Don’t need to be born here. Like I was born in china but I came here when I was 1.3 years old. (Ignore the decimal) my mom and dad also came here with me so that I wouldn’t need that strict teaching in china. Maybe they should ask the people that are almost mothers why they didn’t come earlier and basically say no.

Some Koreans from North Korea are very poor, and can’t afford to have many children unlike in Canada or the United States. On the other hand (I’M NOT TRYING TO COPY MARCUS OKAY) if you go to America you’ll have to deal with Donald Trump (no offense to you crazy Trump lovers over there). Also (I’M NOT TRYING TO COPY JOSHUA TOO) should a mother leave her children because of overpopulation? If I was a mother, I would say SCREW DA GOVERNMENT and JUST DO IT. A good thing about birth tourism is that it saves a lot of money and poor families can benefit this.

  22. sebby1 says:

I think birth tourism is terrible, in fact I think it should be considered illegal. I disagree with birth tourism because you wont get money for your kid to go to school, and you and your kid will only be able to go back to your home country when your kid is older. I don’t think the media/ the government is making birth tourism feel like a big deal, i think it is a BIG DEAL!!! So some women have birth tourism…but why? one of the reasons is I don’t think mothers want to do birth tourism, I think they are forced to HAVE IT! I also think they have birth tourism because hospitals were full at the moment. I also think they have it because there husbands have to go to A different country to work. women also had birth tourism because she ha to visit her family in A different county. in my opinion there are many ways for why women have birth tourism.

  23. isabella16 says:

i don’t think people should come to Canada just so their baby is Canadian.
aren’t they proud of where their baby was going to be born? When people do this and come to Canada or any other country they like they are literally showing they don`t like where their baby will be born so they will move to another country just so the baby is from that country. i feel like that is just wrong. like what is wrong with their country? i don’t think they should have birth tourism because then other people who are waiting to see their families won’t be able to see them at because they will be trying to get a pregnant woman to the hospital.
i would say to people how do birth tourism to STOP
i don’t get why people like it anyway if i was still in my country ( which is Costa Rica not Canada or mexico ) i wouldn’t leave just to have baby why would people do that? i also don’t agree with the person who started it because now a bunch of people are coming to Canada and other countries just so their baby is born there ?!?
    The End 😀 😛

I think it’s not a good idea because you are poor and you don’t like your country. So you go to another country to have a baby. You want your baby to be in this country. But now you become a citizen as well. So now you move to a country. But you are still poor so you have to pay taxes. But you don’t have any money. So what do you do now? So I don’t think it is a good idea and a waste of time. I get that you want to have a successful life and feel good for your baby but it’s stupid. Also you can’t even see your family. You can’t see your husband or your parents. Who the heck would do this like what?? This is what people are thinking. *Sigh* my life sucks I don’t have any money. I am going to give birth soon but where am I gonna go? Maybe I will go to the U.S.. Finally I have arrived. Oh no I forgot about my family and oh no I have to pay taxes what am I gonna do. I left this trip for nothing. Also the mom is letting the daughter be a citizen of that country but you aren’t aren’t a citizen. So basically I think you are creating even more problems if you are moving to this country. Also maybe people forced the mom out of the home so now they have to move to another country and have an even WORSE life. So I definitely disagree with this topic. So to all the people who are poor and want to have a good life for their baby and their selves then DO NOT DO BIRTH TOURISM!!! just stay the way you are hopefully you will get help with your money and be happy. So yet again do not do birth tourism and yes I do disagree with this topic. Hopefully SOMEONE will read this (besides Ms. Panesar) so if you did thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my opinion, (and i guess in other peoples opinions) birth tourism is pretty much not right. Many women just go here to Canada and give birth to their baby just so they won’t have to pay much like for example, education. There are already much kids here, and I think that if birth tourism continues, it’ll be like Canada with a very high population! LIKE VERY HHHIIIGGGHHH!!! I also think it was be a good idea to allow birthright citizenship here in Canada, (although Canada’s birthright citizenship is unconditional) but i’m sure some women might still be flying to Canada, US, etc. because of how cheap it is to afford their child going to school. Seriously. It is probably expensive in their home country because of how poor the country is.
For a different reason why birth tourism is wrong is that kids do need to learn about their home country. I mean like we could be Canadian our whole lives and not know where our parents came from. And women from different countries would just answer, “well, here of course.” I also got this feeling that it’s just some women that travel to different countries to give birth to their baby. Not their husband. (like a divorce thing.)
To A some o’ the Q’s above, I’ll just put them into sentences.
“You know that you could have a successful life if he/she/they were Canadian, wouldn’t you want to help your child any way you could?” i would like my child to have a perfect life if I was in a different country, but since I’m in Canada, I’ll just stay here.
“What if schooling cost lots of money in your home country and you would not be able to pay for your child’s education?” I’d probably work harder until I’d get the right amount of money. Because you are pretty much going to need to buy a plane ticket to wherever you’re going to go to, and then use your money to get your child in school. (man! this is long.)
“But let’s also think about people who are trying to immigrate to Canada. They have to go through lots of detailed paperwork and scans? How is is fair to them?” It’s definitely NOT fair. Since they need lot’s of money to travel here.
“What are your thoughts about this issue?” Well, my paragraph. :l
“Do you agree or disagree with birth tourism, and why?” Disagree.
“Do you think that this is a big deal, or is the media/government is making us feel that it is?” To be honest, when I saw the video on the global news, I just went with it, just say that birth tourism is wrong, and write this comment.
So yeah! As I was saying, birth tourism is completely wrong, and that some women just do this for their child. I hope you liked my comment Ms. Panesar and anybody who is reading my comment for some reason. The End. Bbbbbbyyyyyyeeeeee! 😀 😀 😀

I think that birth tourism isn’t right, some people might think that “oh its okay” ” oh its not wrong” but I personally don’t. I can totally understand why pregnant women do it they just want a better life for their child but still,we should still think about the people that work their butts off so that they can be a Canadian citizen. If I was one of those people I would feel so sad,and that’s not all oh no no no no when they give birth here they don’t even have to pay a single dime!! a SINGLE DIME!!!! while other people have to pay like THOUSANDS of dollars. They don’t have to pay their TAXES!!!!!!! They ALSO ……..GET ……..FREE ……HEALTH CARE!!!!!! WHY? oh you know because their dumb baby was born here!! Okay look if you still think its okay then let me explain it to you in a different way ( sort of…) okay so lets say that you’re in this store and you really wanted to buy something now when you go in line you saw it and it was very very long it took you like say…..3 hours and you’re still standing there. Then out of nowhere you just see this pregnant lady walking and budging in the line that you were in ,she…..did not even had to wait like 3 and a half hours. The worst part is since she is pregnant she gets those say 6 items for FREE!!!! How does that make you feel? It would make me melt …..LITERALLY!!! And I agree with Annie I also don’t want any money suckers in my life…….NO THANK YOU!!!! SO over all I think that this should really stop. Because this is just not fair………OK BYE!!

This is MY opinion about birth tourism, and not the whole country, alright?
*AHEM.* Here we go. I believe that we should encourage birth tourism to the world because it can help everyone around the world! By everyone, I mean all of the COUNTRIES around the world. Birth tourism help women from other countries to give birth to babies, and that is a good thing. Usually, women come to countries that allow birth tourism because in their country they might not be allowed to have more than one child. For example, my friend who is Chinese was born in Canada. Birth tourism helps other women to give birth! In conclusion, I believe that we should encourage birth tourism, not only for our sake, but other women from around the world. I really hope that changes the other countries’ mind, and I really hope that birth tourism continues.

Than of course because that’s the country the baby was born. But some times it isn’t a good idea to have a baby in a different country because of citizenship. Some countries just don’t give citizenship just because you were born there. Like some countries say that you and your baby can have citizenship but some countries say you have to be come a citizen and give up your culture, and citizenship from your original country and everything. But I think they’re kinda stupid because you want to have a baby in a country you didn’t research in the first place. I also think it’s unfair to make a country pay for all these births. It costs a lot of money and it’s the citizens of that country that pay for the hospital bills and doctors and nurses with tax money, especially in Canada. Not from the people from the other countries. I think we should change our citizenship laws to not allow birth tourism to happen. This isn’t the purposes of how the laws should work. But sometimes people research enough that they know the rules and laws of the country. They are not breaking the law but I think it is wrong. Just because you are not breaking the law doesn’t mean you should do it. You should still do what’s right. Also, travelling when you are almost 9 months pregnant is dangerous and puts the mom and the baby at risk. What happens if the mom gives birth on the plane?

  29. lyiam1 says:

like i know that when pregnant and travelling you could give birth to a child in a country you are not a citizen to the country then technically according to the law the baby is a citizen to the country. but why cant we/humans have a baby in Thailand then bring the baby back to your original country? and then you would have to be away from your family and what if no ones there to take care of that baby? and what if the person does not want to take care of that baby? they’ll be really far from their child/baby just because they dont want that bébé? ahhahahhaha bébé bébé!! XD. but yeah what if the parent doesn’t want that bébé? like what if that bébé will be so lonely. *insert sad violin and gabe the dog borkin super sadly* growing up without a parent would be very bad, not having fun with your parents and you would miss out in a lot of activities without parents would be like having no friends or activities to do. like i would not be able to live without my parents i think. but yeah so that would suck to not have my parents by my side or something. imagine not having parents that would be terrible, and you would have to make your own food, AND BE SO LONELY! AND BEING BY YOUR SELF! OMG I FEEL BAD JUST THINKING ABOUT IT!

I agree that we should still have birth tourism cause we want to let people live. not just shrivel up and die. ( get the reference?)NO, we do not want that there are some countries that are in ”poor conditions” and its hard to give birth in a bad place. We should accept them. lets help. and the bonus to give birth to place like this, theirs free education awesome water . so came here now! 🙂 i don`t think this is much of a big deal as long as the population go to max. ( then some killing will have to be done ) but of course we cant let people die as i have said earlier and that think how much pain the woman has to endure. i also think they would rather have their child live in a good place then rather having them in a desert. or a lost forest. (not trying t do any pointers please don`t hate me ) i also think that if they immigrate here to give birth , they should just go ahead instead of going all through all that paper work. or just build a hospital in all airports. which one do you think is better? so yeah this is my end to this blog post .

I think people should let their babies be born in their country because if they’re born here they would get free health care just for being born here and leaving to go back to their normal lives at their other countries. It shouldn’t be done because they are giving away health care to someone that will probably be born in canada and leave after they’re born when someone else who has been there for some years and they don’t have free health care because they weren’t born there might need it more. Unless they need to go somewhere to have their baby for a specific reason they shouldn’t be letting birth tourism happen in their country because they can easily go to a country have their baby get free health care and other stuff for free and then go back to their country with a kid that gets free health care other stuff and he is from the country her or his parents wanted him or her to be from. I don’t think that is fair for people to have to wait some years while newborn babies get free things for being from that country and leave immediately. The is the end of my blog post byeeeeeee! 😀

That wasn`t very nice of them to say that they should eliminate birth tourism. what is one of the workers in the hospital had their mothers come here and lay babies here? who even said that? I dont get this again how tragic this world can be or anymore. The hospital said that they should eliminate that, but at what cost though? they never though of that and stupidly said that for no reason because the population is overfilling here. so what the government could get more workers and besides if they had more people coming more people would be working for here! and is that a problem with me if i was them? isn`t that obvious? it`s a absolute YES no matter what happens. i don`t care what it is important. s as i was saying birth tourism is nothing which means it`s half good and half bad. Just try to imagine it how it effects your life and the others. How would you feel about that? And how would you react to that. Finally, the last thing is who, what, where, when ,why? who did that what happened to cause that, where did that happen, when did it happen, and why did it happen is it because they workers, staff were getting to much stress? who know?well i brought a conclusion to this god dang thing called “Birth Tourism” that should just remain in it`s position and shouldn`t be eliminated. There you do thats my conclusion!
