Breaking News…Trump back at it…Again!

So guys, it seems as though he is back at it again! Of course, I am talking about a particular individual who will probably be voted for ‘The Best President of the Century’ award! Okay, now you know that I am being sarcastic but what you may not know is what I am talking about! Let’s back up a bit, shall we?

Who ever thought that I would agree with something that Trump has said, however, it is true. The media, especially certain media outlets, can be highly biased. Unfortunately when times like Remembrance Day roll around we do not see the soldiers of colour: Black-Canadians, Sikh-Canadians, Chinese-Canadians, Japanese-Canadians and our First Nations, etc.

In a ceremony where Trump should have been paying tribute to the Navajo people, especially two Navajo war vets, he goes on to say: “You’re very, very special people. You were here long before any of us were here. Although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas. But you know what. I like you. Because you are special, ” Mr. Trump remarked.

Who is he referring to when he says ‘Pocahontas?’ He is speaking about an American Senator (Politican) named Elizabeth Warren who came under fire because she was unable to prove her supposed Aboriginal background.

Read the article and see the clips here:

You really end up feeling terrible for those vets who stayed calm and composed! Below is what Warren said regarding Trump’s comments about her.

So let’s weigh in on this topic. What do you think? To you, why is what Trump said, bad? Perhaps you see nothing wrong in his comment, why do you think that way? What does he even mean when he calls Warren, Pocahontas?

Remember, grade 5’s -8 sentences, grade 6’s 10-12 sentences. Details!!!!! Post some responses to your classmates too please!

Why is Donald Trump so mean? I get it, that trump is a very good president for the Americans ( not the best president in the world). The aboriginal people are very important to the US so I don’t get why Donald Trump called an aboriginal a bad “name”. What do you think of DT ( Donald Trump) ? Do you think DT is mean? You can add your opinions by replying. I wonder why Donald Trump is so mean.

For some reason, I don’t see anything wrong with Trump’s comment. But I think it was wrong of him to call Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas”. Oh, Trump. You’re still on. Anyway, does anyone think Donald Trump be called “Best President Of The Country” after his comment? :l

He technically means that these people are better just because they’ve been there first so which means that he hates immigrants which is true as most of us know. So if trump was in Canada he would say that other aboriginals are special and i’m normal or bad just because i came from India. So that comment could be racist in a way. Personally i do not like that comment because it can be offensive. What do you think do you like it or not or not. Also the answer should`t be no because you just know Donald trump`s speech is going to be bad.

Donald trump should have never said that to the Navajo and shouldn’t have troll the Black-Canadians, Sikh-Canadians, Chinese-Canadians, Japanese-Canadians and our First Nations on Remembrance Day. .I think it really offed the other person feel.i will do more later

I think I have a very big problem with Trump’s concert. I just think he wants to let everybody think he’s a NICE and GREAT person, and that makes me want to throw up. Trump always says something to make people happy, and guess what? Sometimes, it works. You heard me, it works. For some reason, when he says you’re special, I like you, you’re important and stuff, people gets happy about it. Now, DT(Trump) called someone a bad “name”. How could he be so mean? He let people hates him by calling people important, he lets people hates him when he says mean stuffs. I think everybody just hates DT, and I just think everything is wrong with him. He’s mean!!!!!!!!!

To be honest I donno who is right. I mean, the senator might be lying about her background. It’s still wrong to say that even if she was lying because it is when he was honoring two important people who are the same race as she claimed. I got to agree with the senator for it being disrespectful, these men risked their lives and fought for their country. But BUT I think trump didn’t meant it to be a racial slur, just a small attack against the senator. To be honest I think this is one of those Cam Mutton things. the horrible thing is: trump didn’t apologise to the people that were offended and went further by tweeting: Pocahontas is at it again! Goofy Elizabeth Warren, one of the least productive U.S. Senators, has a nasty mouth. Hope she is V.P. choice. And EVEN further by tweeting: Pocahontas just stated that the Democrats, lead by the legendary Crooked Hillary Clinton, rigged the Primaries! Let’s go FBI & Justice Dept. And still didn’t go sorry. The worst thing about trump is that he never just admits he made a mistake or if he is wrong. I think he was just not thinking like Cam Mutton but Cam apologised as soon as he said it but DT went further and further and made the situation worse. What do you think is DT the bad guy here or is it just a misunderstood situation??? post your thoughts plz. 😉
(do I get extra marks for doing a lot??)

I think that Donald trump said something offensive to Elizabeth warren as he called her Pocahontas in a formal occasion. First of all, it is impolite to call anyone names. As a president honoring two vets that fought world war two, if trump wanted to make a reference to the senator, he should have said her actual name. Moreover she is an aboriginal so trump referring warren as “Pocahontas”, a real historical figure in her culture, in front of the two native Americans is culturally insensitive. Although whether warren really has an aboriginal background is not clear, I understand why so many people have got angry and think that Donald trump’s racial slur is inappropriate.Even if the two veterans stayed composed I think that not only does Donald trump’s saying hurt warren, it also hurts the two veterans and the tribe behind them. In such a solemn situation, a president is supposed to use his language carefully and pay much attention to his manners because he is delivering a message to the public and the whole country is watching. With his reckless comments, he gave the audience an impression, real or not, that he doesn’t respect the natives or admire the native war heroes from his heart.

When I heard (or read) Donald Trump’s response, I thought he was being rude. I’m pretty sure he didn’t want to offend Elizabeth Warren, but I am not sure who he was referring to when he called her “Pocahontas”. Was he trying to be nice? Well he was supposed to compliment the Navajo war vets, which he did, actually. He might’ve been trying to relate to some First Nations names, but couldn’t. I wonder how Elizabeth is going to get Trump back after she did not like the insult. So to conclude my comment, Donald may have said that insult by accident.
