It’s hard to believe we’re already in Term 2. As usual, the kids are working so hard and have been amazing 🙂 Just a friendly reminder to check planners each night to make sure studying and homework are being completed on time.

Victoria:

As some of you know, every second year, Ms. Smith and I team up to take our students to Victoria. This educational trip is part of the government unit we both teach and is closely aligned with the BC Social Studies Curriculum. During the trip, we’ll visit the Royal BC Museum and the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, where we’ll join a tour and observe the question period.

This field trip runs all day. We typically ask students to arrive at Aubrey at 6:00 AM and expect to return around 8:00 PM. The cost will be approximately $55–$60, but we are working on keeping it as low as possible and exploring all options. We’re currently planning to book the trip for the first week of March (March 4th).

We’re still in the early stages of planning, so some details (price, date, times) may change, but I wanted to give everyone a heads-up! Once things are more official, a permission slip will go home.

We can take about 4 parent volunteers. If you’d like to volunteer, please let me know as soon as possible. If more than 4 parents are interested, I’ll randomly draw names to keep it fair. Volunteers, of course, will have their trip covered.

Business Fair:

In May, all Grade 5/6 students will have the opportunity to participate in Business Fair. This project will count toward their ADST, Language Arts, Math, and Career Ed marks for Term 3. The students are super excited and have even mentioned starting to buy supplies, but please don’t purchase anything without checking with me first. There’s a specific formula for supply buying, along with spending limits, criteria, and rules. Students also need to submit a prototype and have their item approved, so it’s best to wait until they have all the information to create a successful product and business.

Business Fair officially begins about two months before the event, giving students plenty of time to prepare. I totally get the excitement and the temptation to buy supplies on sale, but there’s no need to start early.

As always, thank you so much for your support this year! This year is already feeling pretty amazing 🙂

Michelle

Hi everyone!
