Social-Emotional Scheduling

Many of you have asked when the schedule for the conversations that will be held Thursday, Sept. 26 will be coming out. It will come out on Monday. The reason for this is that we need to coordinate schedules for those students with siblings in other classes. This will enable us to schedule these families back-to-back.

Learning Logs

In order to organize student work more effectively, I have created a Learning Log system. All marked student work will be placed in a binder. This will allow for easy access to student’s learning and enable you to quickly see what students are working on. These binders will stay at school and play a central role in the Student Led Conferences later on in the school year. In order to start placing student work in the binder, please make sure your child has 12 dividers in by Friday. We will then create the Learning Logs sometime next week. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Homework Expectations

Below is a note on homework. Do talk to me if you have any questions about homework and its role in your child’s learning.

Both Reading and Homework are important components of daily after school routines. Statistics show that reading and doing well in school are directly related. I expect students to read for at least 20 minutes each and every day at home. Students will also receive daily homework that should take between 20 and 45 minutes a day depending on how well your child used their time in class and when certain projects are due. Some days homework may be more, other days less.
