Going into Gr. 1 French Immersion

Here is a series of links and resources I have complied to help over the summer. Your child’s grade 1 teacher will review all the basic concepts your child needs to know to make for a successful Grade 1 year so do not think you need to be working over the summer with your child! But for those who desire, these are some resources and tools to keep the learning momentum going!


Jolly Phonics is a popular resource for teaching French Immersion students about French letter sounds. This alphabet booklet is a great way to support their learning – Alphabet Rap

Here is a list of common french sight words. Write on an index card and review with your child! Try to use the word in the sentence or in a journal prompt: grade-1-sight-words

Beginner reading booklets A-Z; have your child practice reading with these easy readers. 1 booklet for each letter of the alphabet with simple vocabulary: ABC booklets
